MllsDeMode at Graspop Metal Meeting
How would you describe your own style?
I happen to be wearing black today, but I love the classic & sexy, but covered-up look.
I also like clean lines and a lot of color. I love black, but when I'm dressed in black
I make sure my make-up pops, with orange lipstick for example. Color in my wardrobe is a must,
as well as leather jackets in every color. Other things in my closet are blazers, trousers, dresses, heels, ...
Even though I'm pregnant & wearing flats, I love everything. I also have a beauty & fashionblog,
Smoonstyle.com, I regularly post make-up looks on it. It's one of my favorite hobbies, almost a second job.
And it's fun, because it fits my real job. For years now I do my make-up by myself
and for the last 2 big performances & albums we collaborated with a fashion designer. It's fun to do.
How do your outfits on stage differ from your outfits off stage?
I would never go out for a sandwich in the clothes I wear on stage. On stage I'm rock chique,
but above all it has to be comfy. I'm not going to wear a ball gown. Too tight is also not ideal,
because then it's impossible to move. In daily life I also go for comfy,
I'm not going to wear uncomfortable clothes, especially now I'm pregnant.
So if I don't wear comfy clothes the fun will be over in five minutes.
It's a challenge to dress nice when pregnant, but on stage I've another style than off stage.
At the moment I look a bit metal, but I also wear yellow and red dresses.
But that would look a bit strange here.
What would you do if H&M would want to make a collection with you?
I would love that. It would be a mix of leather jackets, I love clean lines, so fitted blazers & pointy shoulders,
asymmetrical prints, that's what I like. But It still has to be classic, no busy prints.
And everything in every possible color.
Do you have a style icon and do you follow make-up trends?
Not really, I just do what I like. On stage I go for a smokey eye & nude lips or the pin up look.
Just some eyeliner, red lips, contouring the face and curling the hair. In the daily life I don't wear as much
make-up as on stage, no fake lashes or smokey eyes. Off stage I'm more into the pin-up look, like now.
You have beautiful hair. What would you do if they'd asked you to dye it?
I have wigs at home to try it out, but I feel most confident with my hair now. Even though I sometimes
work as a model, I have my own image & personality and my red hair is part of that.
I also wouldn't shave it if they gave me a million euros.
