Hi all. This is Dead Nation Apocalypse the latest game that's gone free if you're a
PlayStation Plus subscriber.
So this being a PlayStation 4 title we certainly expect fantastic graphics
incredible explosions, great lighting and generally a fast frame rate and great
fluid graphics.
All of that is on display here but I can't escape the feeling that
everything is just a little bit dark in PlayStation Plus's world.
It would be really good if we had a few games that maybe were a little bit more
on the light side now.
Black seems to have been the predominant thing that is kind of
the theme running between all of these games on PlayStation Plus.
Now the main issue I have with Dead Nation is not so much
the gameplay which is fun, really, but it's quite a difficult game
and almost to the point of frustration at times because you're having to conserve
your bullets
and the game is so dark, even, you know, playing with the gamma controls to try and
lighten it up and balance it up a little bit more but I found that half the time you
couldn't even tell when a zombie was going to attack you anyway
because you couldn't see the damn zombie about to attack you. It was a very
odd experience and one that you know, we've seen this style of gameplay on
multi-player platforms before
even doing the last man standing against the zombies in a dual stick
shooter, it's been done before
and actually I can't help think it's been done better on the mobile platforms
than it has been done here. Whilst Dead Nation's a really competent game and great fun
that frustration at the way the kind of difficulty of the levels ramps up towards the
end when you're running out of ammunition, your health is low
and you're just getting overwhelmed it just doesn't make for a fun experience in my
opinion. This
isn't a title I would pay money for but it's a title I'll quite happy play
if I'm getting it for free as part of my PlayStation Plus subscription.
