Hi, I'm Dr. Michael Walker from Hill Country Facial Plastic Surgery Center and on behalf
of Expert Village we'll be talking about S-lifts today. So how is the S-lift different from
the thread lift? The S-lift is actually surgery elevating the skin off the muscles and tissues.
The thread lift is a procedure that was popular several years ago by introducing threads underneath
the skin that had barbs. The barbs would catch on the skin and then pull it up and then the
threads were fixed. The problem I encountered with thread lift was usually the barbs pulled
loose within two or three months, and it was not a good long-term effect. Threads have
been taken off the market because of these problems, and physicians were just not using
them due to the dissatisfaction the patients were experiencing. So the thread lift as far
I know is not being done anymore.
