I teach in the English department and I teach Comp I and Comp II. I'm currently teaching technical writing this semester.
I am the advisor for the developmental reading program and I also teach some of the reading classes, and I teach the
ESL developmental reading and writing classes.
I love the home town feeling that you get here and the fact that the instructors are encouraged to be accessible to the
students, and there is that accessibility of the teacher-students that you don't get in a lot of universities.
And just the overall atmosphere of Tech. I think it's very pleasant, it's a beautiful campus, just a very sort of
professional, yet accessible type of atmosphere here.
I really like my students and I just love teaching, and being up there seeing when you connect with that student
and you know that they have understood what it is that you are trying to get across to them. Also, I felt like sometimes
I've connected with my students and maybe helped them in some way. I'm sure all teachers have had this experience.
It's when you know that you've made a difference in someone's life and that's very rewarding, and I've never
had that in other professions, such as the international marketing, so that part right there is my favorite.
Never thought it would be something I would be doing with my life. Just never dreamed of it. But after being in front
of the classroom and working with the students, and seeing that you can make a difference in this world.
Even if it's just one student at a time.
