Hi again, everybody. It's Roger with Hearing Healthcare of Virginia, and today we're going
to talk a little bit about hearing aid batteries. Sometimes with the batteries, they are different
sizes. Of course, different hearing aids take different batteries. So the first thing you
want to do is make sure that your hearing professional lets you know the exact size
that you'll be needing. Many times these are color-coded. The ones that I'm holding is
a 312 battery. And you'll notice the color of the package is brown. You also have on
the back of the battery a brown sticker that has to be removed before using the battery.
And while we're talking about that, when you peel the sticker off the back of the hearing
aid battery before you're ready to use it, you just want to peel it off and make sure
that the battery air activates. And typically I recommend anywhere from 10 to 20 seconds
before you actually insert it into your hearing aid. They have shown that the hearing aid
battery will actually last a little bit longer if you let that activate through the air for
at least that amount of time. We also want to remind you that when disposing
of batteries, or if you have hearing aid batteries that you're getting rid of, make sure that
they're away from your pets, your children. They have shown to be pretty hazardous to
the health of animals and humans, so we definitely don't want any accidents with regard to the
hearing aid batteries. So that's my tip for the day. Hope you have
a great day. And we'll see you hopefully here at Hearing Healthcare of Virginia. We have
six locations. Have a good day.
