Hello everyone and welcome to another video.Today we are going to talk about 6 things that you
need to consider when buying a gaming laptop.
First of all you guys need to know that gaming laptops will cost much more for similar performance
compared to gaming desktops. There is a lot of room to spend money on the wrong laptop. So
I would highly recommend you to get a gaming desktop. With that being said lets get started.
For gaming and graphics intensive task GPU or graphics card is the most important part.So
graphics card is the first thing to consider when buying a gaming laptop.Remember laptop
GPUs with a M referring to mobile graphics is weaker compared to desktop GPUs.
If you are looking to play modern titles at playable frame rates at medium settings then
you should get at least Nvidia’s GT840M or GT940M.Graphics card lower than this will
struggle to handle latest games like GTA V and Witcher 3 even at low settings and lower
resolutions.
With the GT 940M you will be able to play GTA V at 768p medium settings at 50 fps with
a core i5 5200U CPU.But you need to turn down the resolution even lower when playing Witcher
3 for a playable frame rate.
From AMD’s side you need to get at least R9 m270 to play the latest titles at playable
frame rates. It runs GTA V at 768p medium settings for 43.5 fps with a core i7 5500U CPU.
CPU or processor comes second in a gaming laptop.Considering gaming laptops I would
strongly recommend you to go with an Intel CPU and shouldn’t be satisfied with anything
less than a 4th or 5th gen core i5 or core i7.
Laptop CPUs are weaker compared to desktops and anything less will struggle to run the
latest games.
Number 3 is RAM or memory. You should go with at least 8 gigabytes of memory in a gaming
laptop.I have another detailed video on laptop memory.I will leave a link in the description
to that video. Number 4 is display.Display is an important
part for a decent gaming experience.Mosty you will find 768p laptops.1080p is a better
choice but you will need high end parts to play games at 1080p resolution in a laptop.
At 5 comes storage.Usually high end gaming laptops come with an SSD.But you shouldn’t
be satisfied with less than 500 gigabytes of hard drive.
Its better to go with lower storage 7200 RPM hard drive rather than higher storage 5400
RPM hard drive.
Finally at 6 there are things like cooling system, gaming featured keyboards, sound quality
and all those stuff. But to be honest the cooling system of modern gaming laptops are much much
better than what we used to have back in the days.
And features like gaming keyboard and better sound quality vary from laptop to laptop. These
are your personal preferences and will cost you much more.
There are a lot of information to consider when buying a gaming laptop and these are the
6 basic thangs that will help you to consider a gaming laptop.
