Hi, today we'll see one of latest preamps from JuicedLink...
the Riggy-Assist RA222...
lets go!
This is one of the most advanced and complete models
currently offered by JuicedLink.
It has a very solid metal construction...
aesthetically simple but functional.
It's designed to be used with any camera or rig
thanks to it's 1/4"-20 mounting points.
It accepts XLR microphones...
Boosting their signal up to an extra 30dB.
It offers optional 12V or 48V phantom power.
The levels from each channel can be adjusted and
monitored independently using the included
LED meters and headphones jack.
It offers an optional system which lowers the signal
of one of the channels by 16dB...
preventing clipping in unexpected cases.
It can also disable the automatic gain control of the camera.
It's powered by a 9V battery and has an exclusive setting
to turn off a channel if we're not using it...
to extend the battery life.
We can also select if we're using an Alkaline or LiPoly battery...
which optimizes it's performance and battery indicators.

Now we'll plug a RODE NT3 microphone directly to the
camera using an XLR to 3.5mm adapter cable.

it sounds better, but it's not the best possible setup.

Now we'll plug the microphone to the JuicedLink Riggy-Assist
and then into the camera.

The audio should sound excellent right now...
with low noise and a very clean signal.

The JuicedLink can also be used between
the microphone and an external audio recorder.
This produces a low noise signal
and the best possible recording quality.
We also get better physical controls for adjustments.
This is the RODE NT3 plugged into the JuicedLink RA222...

The audio should sound excellent
and it's highest quality combination.
It's only downside it having to sync it in post.

An optional piece is the Riggy Bracket RB401...
which connects to the preamp...
and offers many mounting points for accessories...
making it perfect for when you need a compact rig.
One detail is that, in order to screw it to the camera...
one must use the included Allen key.
It would be an improvement to incorporate
a tool-less system similar to a battery grip.
Another thing is that the adjustment knobs are a bit small...
which can be a uncomfortable for some users.
