Demography affects us in two ways. First, our patients are getting older, the diseases they have and that
we have to treat are becoming more complex. But we also have a demographic problem with our employees.
There is an increase in older employees, who increasingly face more difficulties coping with the physical
effort, especially when they are in care services. We also have a problem with new young academics.
Less younger people want to enter the current health care system, as they learn from the news that there are
low salaries and bad career prospects. In that sense we are affected twice by the demographic process.
