Today is Friday, March 22nd
and here's an update on the Koi Pond
It's a little different time of the day so it's gonna look different than the
last video
I'm using a slightly better camera
but uh... you can see here that that the water is getting
slightly greener
uh... what i've done
between the two videos has been to pull out all of the potted plants
and
hose them off
to get as much of the algae off of them as i can. I trimmed off all of the dead stems
that were sticking up
and um...
to clean out the bottom of the fish pond I use my
do it yourself
homemade
air lift
vacuum.
It worked fairly well. And then also you can see over there on the
wheelbarrow
I got me one of those
nets to scoop bottom with
and the cleanup almost all of the leaves, there's a bit more.
but uh... all that work was done for the most part
last weekend. And, you can see now that there's a lot of green and it's just stirred up
all through this
and um...
i'm gonna have to take some of you're all's advice
and um...
i think i'm gonna put some
some quilt batting
underneath the
the water feature, underneath the waterfall and try to catch as much as I can.
I also need to back flush my filter.
Allot of you were asking what kind of filter i have and haven't frankly i don't even
know the name of it.
It's a canister touched style filter that has foam pads, foam media
in it, as well as
four or five bags of little uh...
plastic things
that look like uh... honeycomb.
I know that's for the biological portion of it but,
it seems to work fairly well or at least the people that had it before us and it
worked well so
uh... that's about big for the Koi Pond.
One more thing i'd like to add is guess what i picked up on craigslist!?
You can look at one of the other videos that I just created
and posted to youtube
but uh... if the sun's not too bright you can see i picked up all of this stuff
from Craigslist and gave the guy twenty-five bucks for gas
and he helped me move it over here to my house
and so i'm looking forward to using some of these
smaller
pieces here
and some of the flag stone
uh...
to finish up this Koi Pond. And then this bench
that you see here is going to set
uh... on this little level spot here
and we'll just continue this wall around
uh... and match it up
so it's going to have a nice little sitting area
and uh... it'll start to look nice here's a close-up picture of bob for you
chillin out
that palm tree
it's actually kind of cool, that palm tree we got from uh...
uh... the said one of the fish tanks the
that i had and I discontinued the use of
we put that palm tree there and it came from the fish tank so
You can get those things about anywhere you want and then we found Bob
and uh... that mushroom at Walmart.
Much more to come, much more to do but i'm sure it's going to start to look
nice in the next couple of weeks i'm looking forward to working on it.
God Bless You All
