Hey guys, welcome to cologne ink, tattoo and piercing.
Today I'm with my guest and old friend SIS.
He visited me and wanted his ears pierced what we just have done.
How are you after the procedure?
Great
Is Everything fine?
Yes, everything is fine.
Let's begin with the first question.
Where did you get your name "SIS" from.
What is behind your name?
The name "SIS" means fog in turkish.
It was sometimes when I was on my way to an after hour party.
We drove in the morning through the woods
to a former nunnery
and between the trees you could see
a wall of fog and the first sunrays.
My friends suggested I could name myself "SIS"
because I didn't have a nickname at this time.
And that name stayed until now.
You are presenting your new Album at "NOA" today.
It is the release tour.
What is the name of your new Album?
It's called "CONFIDANCE".
And how long did it take to produce the album?
I didn't sit down and actually produced an album.
Instead, half of the tracks are selected from my old tracks.
They are my favorite songs.
The other half consists of some new produced tracks.
I couldn't tell how long it took me.
What do you love most while working as a DJ?
Do you prefer analog or digital equipment?
By now I only use digital equipment.
I work with a laptop and "Traktor Scratch".
With that setup I have endless possibilities
like playing 2 or 3 Tracks simultaniously
and build my own style.
That isn't able to be reproduced by Vinyl.
It's much too heavy to carry,
too many problems at the airport.
Your bags of Vinyls could disappear.
It is just not my taste.
What are your musical role models?
In the world of techno and house music
I don't really have a role model.
There is a guitarist named "Gustavo Santaolalla".
I don't know how to pronaunce his name.
He was involved in the soundtrack
of "the motorcycle Diarys", a film about Che Guevara,
and many other films like "Babel".
He is the kind of Artist who gives me the creeps.
What do you prefere in the club? Beer or ***?
First the *** and then a beer.
What is your take on the new no-smoking-rule in german clubs?
I don't care because I am allowed to smoke anyways.
But actually I don't like it.
Everybody connects party and alcohol with smoking
and the fact is that in small clubs
you can smell everything if nobody is smoking.
How do you see the development of the electonical music?
I don't really follow up all the developments
I buck the trend.
I don't imitate other artists. I couldn't even if I wanted.
I just have my own workflow.
I always develope my own sound so I don't care.
When did you have your breakthrough in the music business?
2008...2008 with your Records...
..."Nesrib" and "Trompeta".
What is your favorite club in the world?
For making party not the club but the friends are critical.
As a DJ I love every club in Japan.
Moscow is very great
and the Watergate in Berlin, too.
When I play at the Watergate club it's one of the finest experiences I know.
What was your most amazing gig ever?
I had the most amazing gig
but I can't remember it.
I don't even know where or when.
I just woke up the next day in the hotel room.
At the first glance I was looking for my Recordbag
and it was still there.
Anything else I can't remeber.
SIS, thanks a lot for your time an the interview.
Thanks for the invitation.
You're welcome.
You know, cologne is your summer home base.
Yes I have many friend right here.
I'd say lets go to the diner.
Yes, to the artists diner. I'm quite hungry.
So guys.
We just had the artist diner with round about
40 people eating with us at "NOA".
Now we will have a look when I can start.
I'm looking forward to it. Have fun.
