Hey, it’s Eric from Your Employment Solutions and today I’m going to share with you the
story of YES.
In 1995 a Utah-based moving and storage company created an in-house staffing agency to absorb
their risk of hiring new employees during their busy season.
We need to absorb our risk of hiring new employees during our busy season.
Let’s create an in-house staffing agency.
Genius!
They named this new employment company Your Employment Solutions.
Early the next year, Your Employment Solutions hired two motivated young men. One named Kerry
Westenskow, the other Reed Laws. Kerry and Reed quickly found that they worked well together,
and a short time later when Kerry was hired on as an accountant by their parent company,
they continued to stay in contact both professionally and personally.
Hey Reed, wanna go dancing?
Dude. Do I wanna go dancing?
Of course I wanna go dancing!
Reed became the office manager for Your Employment Solutions and for the next three years he
worked long hours, often around the clock, at YES’s original location located inside
an industrial garage off of 5th North and 7th West in North Salt Lake.
In those days there was only one other employee in addition to Reed. Business often proved
difficult and profits were sparse. In fact, in February of 1997 YES managed only $180
dollars in revenue.
$180 dollars? Seriously? $180 dollars.
I think we can make this work!
Reed saw potential in the company and stuck it out.
That decision to stick with YES paid big dividends in 1999 when Reed saw an opportunity to expand
Your Employment Solutions into a company that served the employment needs of multiple businesses.
So, together with Kerry, he gathered a team of investors to acquire Your Employment Solutions.
After long and arduous negotiations…
Hey, can we buy your company?
I don’t see why not!
Reed and Kerry became the new owners of YES.
Business substantially increased over the next year and Your Employment Solutions outgrew
its office space. In the year 2000 Reed and Kerry moved the office around the corner with
their recently added third employee - Jarum Stone - on 4th North and 7th West.
The three of them remained there until 2004 when the company was forced to move yet again
to a new location at 160 Cutler Drive.
By 2010 Your Employment Solutions was once again bursting at the seams and they moved
to their current location on Redwood Road. And they also added a second office onsite
in Ogden serving one of their important clients.
In 2012 Your Employment Solutions added an additional office in at the business depot
in Ogden. In 2013 YES expanded once again adding two more additional onsite locations.
One in Salt Lake City and the other in Logan.
The beginnings of Your Employment Solutions were quite challenging.
You know what Kerry Westenskow, vice president of Your Employment Solutions and president
of facilities? The beginnings of YES have been killer hard.
From a small subsidiary company that employed 2 people, served 1 principal client, and worked
out of a 250 square foot room Your Employment Solutions has grown into a strong independent
organization.
Reed and Kerry’s vision of creating the leading employment agency in Utah started
with them, but can only continue to be carried forward by you. Thank you for working with
Your Employment Solutions. Thank you for your attention to quality. Thank you for helping
to make work happen for thousands of people in Utah. Thank you for helping to make Your
Employment Solutions a success.
Would you like to go dancing?
