North Korea fired two more short-range missiles off its eastern coast on Monday,... just a
matter of days after it fired four short-range missiles from the same location.
South Korea's Defense Ministry said the North launched two Scud missiles into the East Sea
at around 6:20 a.m, Korea time... and that the missiles flew at least 500 kilometers.
The missile launch comes amid Seoul and Washington's annual joint military exercises, which Pyongyang
opposes. A South Korean official said this latest string
of missile launches may be North Korea's attempt to ratchet up military tensions in protest
against the joint military drills, and that Seoul is keeping a close watch in case there
are any additional provocations.
