Hi Steve again www.mytoolkit.co.uk Arr… another video in our collection on our TV
channel on our website and this time were looking at corrugated fasteners. Now if you’d
like to come down to the bench I’ll show you the tool in question, made developed by
Tacwise as I say it’s a corrugated fastener, code for the tool so you can search it on
the site urm.. and it will take you to technical information and other videos and I do know
there’s a video of this one showing it actually being used in the workshop. Urr… the code
for the tool is FCF15XCB, There’s the tool two point six kilograms in weight and it fires
a corrugated fastener which I’ll show you more closely in a moment, from 9mm through
to 15mm in leg length now its quite a powerful tool Arr… before I go any further with the
tool I will show you the fastener, now Im bringing one to view there’s the fastener
comes in a strip and I don’t know if you can actually catch it on this but the staple
or the fastener will shear off one end of the block there and as you can see it diverts
into different points the idea is its to butt up the joint and pull it up tight on mitres
etc you’ll also notice there’s a red die on one side that is the blunt the other side
of course being the point and it’s the blunt that has to go into the magazine because that’s
were the driver will strike. And this actually 12mm half inch in old money, so I’ll go
back to the tool and show you some of the features. Just like lots of nail guns and
staple guns etc the safety has to be depressed before we can actually fire the tool exhaust
deflector to deflect the exhausting air and oil vapour away from the eyes, and magazine
simply open up pull back and then we can deposit the fastener, red dye down into the tool,
simply close up and your ready to go. Now there’s another point to show you on this
if I remove this fastener its 12mm in leg length if I turn it round on the side of the
magazine there’s a catch that swivels over the whole magazine can be removed and the
reason being for this if I turn it side on there’s an adjuster plate so when you change
the corrugated fastener, there’s different groves to accommodate the fastener in question.
If I just drop back this into the tool, that locks again now as you can see that’s a
spring loaded swivel, so load in again the 12mm corrugated fastener in we go ready to
fire. Now what I have done I’ve brought along from one of our customers who makes
hand rails staircases etc, this here as you can see is a mitre joint its actually what
they call the landing rail were the spindles actually sit in this base so if you can see
that on the corner I’ve actually broken this away you can see how its fractured and
I just want to show you how the corrugated fastener has actually sunk into that mitre
pulling up the joint and if I just turn it side on you can see the penetration there,
that’s more than enough penetration to give a good holding power on that so that is the
landing rail its been torn apart and it take some tearing apart. Now converse to that is
the hand rail as you can see there’s the mitre joint there and there’s the two sunken
corrugated fasteners, and as you see if I just turn it over you can actually see there’s
the shape of the hand rail which sits on top of the spindles, there’s another video its
on the website you’ll find it on you tube on our MTK channel and you can actually see
us doing that in the work shop although there’s two there its more than sufficient for this
job, what il do is just put another two fasteners in put it onto the workbench! Connect the
airline! It’ll give you some idea of the power of this tool, Apply! Depress the safety!
And again, there we go. I’ve actually put 4 fasteners in there but two’s more than
sufficient. So if you’d like to come back to me now there’s the corrugated fastener
we’ve got it on the range, you can find quite a lot of applications for this Boat
Building, Caravans, Picture Frame mitres, Construction work, when you’ve got a butt
joints and you want to pull it together its an ideal tool, Arr… were recording this
one quite late tonight we don’t normally do that so normally id finish off and have
a brew, but maybe its gunna be something a bit stronger tonight so don’t forget visit
www.mytoolkit.co.uk and bottom left hand corner hopefully you’ll find a link to take you
direct to the tool in the website and I’ll say cheers I’ll see you soon.
