Hi, I’m Doug Criner, and I graduated here from the ECE, which was then the Electrical
Engineering department in 1964. The ECE department here at Illinois is highly respected, almost
wherever you go. People give you a lot of credit for graduating from the U of I, here,
Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering and so it was a big help. I got interested
in electrical engineering through my experience in high school. I really enjoyed science and
math – physics, chemistry and so it was sort of a natural. If you’re interested
in a career in engineering – Electrical or Computer engineering in particular, I think
the University of Illinois would be just absolutely top notch. Recruiters have a very high respect
for graduates from the University of Illinois – I know that was true in the firm that
I work for. But you definitely have the tools, and you have the education, and you have the
background – now you got to go prove yourself, obviously.
