So how we make one of those awesome YouTube banners? Tune to this video and I'm going
to teach you how to do it.
Hi, you're watching Matt TV! This is a place where we have you create the business and
the lifestyle that you really, truly and seriously deserve.
A YouTube banner will make your channel look really pro and stand of from the crowd, so
its really easy to do. This is how we started off.
To get your beautiful banner started, we need to head over to pixlr.com. Now Pixlr is one
of the leading online image editors, so what we going to do, click on Pixlr Editor, and
we want to open a template provided. Now, I do have one on my website. There is a link
below so you can check out that as well.
So we just want to open a template from the computer. Good stuff, see that young smashing
guy in the corner there? That's me! I'm just here to help you.
Now, YouTube recommends uploading image which is 2560 x 1440 pixels. This is a very large
picture. I recommend using a royalty free image from dreamstime or istockphoto, anything
like that, and yes you do pay a couple of dollars of the picture but you get a lot more
selection, you get the right size and you own the rights. So you're not doing anything
illegal or doggy.
Now a little bit about how the banner works. YouTube has created a responsive banner, so
pretty much you give them a banner which is 2560 x 1440 pixels and it will resize depending
on the device used. So if you're using an iPad, if you're using a desktop, if you're
using a TV, the banner will display differently on each and every individual device.
So what we need to do, we need to click of the TV area, come down here, double click
the background, take off that layer and then take off layer no. 6, so we just have a plain
canvass to work with.
Next, what we going to do, come up here and click the layer button and we want to open
our picture that we've purchased as a layer.
I'm creating a TV channel called "Baristaology", so I thought this will go with my theme, so
keep an eye for the coffee addiction stuff coming your way.
Click the logo safe area, we do want to come over here and select the Move tool, a little
cursor. To be honest, I am not really happy; see how the logo safe area, I think it has
a few coffee beans on it. I like a lot of coffee beans. When somebody is watching them
on their TV, YouTube, it’s not going to show up correctly. What you do for that, come
over here to edit and you want to click Free Transform, holding down the shift button so
that make sure the image is not going to be too reduced. We just want to position that
around again. Now I'm very happy with that, how the coffee is looking. Come over here
to the right and just click and we do want to apply the changes to the image.
Now let's add some text to the equation. Click the Type tool, and we just going to click
somewhere on the logo safe area and type out text in. So my TV channel is called "Baristaology
TV". Now it’s really cool, you do have a whole range of fonts to choose from. Try to
choose something which is clear and understandable, none another language. Now I think that's
pretty cool, it's very old school. Let's enlarge the size of the text so it’s quite easy
to see, bold and italics, yup, beautiful! And then what color do we want? This is pretty
cool. I think that's nice. Okay, and there we go, that's "Baristaology TV". Oh yeah!
Now when you're happy with the @@@ we want to click the cursor again. And just move the
text and put it in a good position so not in the avatar's face, maybe a little bit underneath
or to the side, it depends on how you like it to look.
Now just for a little bit of fun, how about we add some effects to it as well. Okay, I'm
going to put a little bit of shadow. Just play around with the settings.
If you want to go for a really different look, we can even change the mode. Make a little
bit more see through, etc., etc. Let's play around with the mode. I do find Overlay to
be quite cool. But that does not really have a color for me, so I'm going to.. I'm going
just to keep it on Normal.
Last but not the least, just click of the logo safe area. If you save the image like
this, the Keep Free for Avatar part will show up. Just make sure you remove that, it's an
easy mistake. Just come to File, we want to click Save, make sure the format is JPEG.
Change the name to "Baristaology TV Banner".
Last but not the least, make sure it said a 100% just for the best quality and we will
save the image.
Okay, so to finish off, we just see the upload that banner that we have created to YouTube.
Click My channel and then let's add some Channel art baby. And that is looking beautiful. "Baristaology
TV"!
So now I'd love to hear from you. How did you go actually setting up that banner?
