TONY KAPECHUK: Hi, my name is Tony. And on behalf of Expert Village, I'll be showing
you how to turn this check socket into a laminated definitive prosthesis. All right, now that
our plaster is set, we'll go ahead and remove our check socket from the cast. For this job,
you'll need a hammer, a razor blade, some gloves and a torch. I'll go ahead and cut
off this tape here. Now, we can go ahead and apply some heat. This will soften the plastic
and make it easier to remove. Let's put on our gloves so we don't get burned. Make sure
we secure it in place here. We can just kind of tap it off with a screwdriver. You can
also use a spare block of wood to help you get off the cast.
Now, we can clean up some of this extra plaster that sipped in around our lock. You can just
use a razor blade to kind of put it away. And we can clean up the plaster that's on the bottom here. We
can now smooth up the cast from any damage that may have been caused during the removal.
A little wet sand screen works nice for this job.
