How important is it to host the 2014 São Paulo Youth Cup?
It's very important both for the Club and for the City,
Santos is a widely recognized as a sports city,
this competition has everything to do with Santos.
Santos FC is always discovering new soccer players,
we've always develop a great job with our youth academy,
therefore, it only makes sense to be one of the competition's hosts.
It matches all the characteristics of the Club and the city,
all the delegations will be extremely well received,
I'm sure the competition will be very successful.
How did the conversations with the President go?
Would you please tell us how it worked?
I became the VP of the São Paulo State Soccer Federation in 2013,
and one of my priorities was brining the so called "Copinha"...
back to Vila Belmiro.
I talked to Dr. Odílio and Luis Álvaro,
who was the president,
and they agreed.
Afterwards, I went to the Secretariat for Sports,
which approved the project as well.
I talked to the mayor, who enjoyed the idea,
and allowed me to offer Santos as a host city...
during the Federation's meetings.
The Federations approved it,
and that's how this project was brought to life.
How is Santos city receiving the 2014 "Copinha"?
We're filled with expectations,
this is a special moment, the World Cup will take place this year,
Santos city breaths soccer,
all Brazilians in general do,
and, due to the World Cup, those feelings are even greater.
There's no way we wouldn't be available to host this competition,
we expect great things to happen,
and I'm quite sure it'll be a great competition.
How's it going to be for Santos FC, the current champion,
to stand for the title at home?
It'll be great to play at home, here at Vila Belmiro,
with all the fans supporting us,
it'll help us a lot, making us even more excited,
to be able to stand for our title, playing at home,
is very important.
