The Psychology Department here is pretty special because we come from so many
different areas.
You'll find people like me, who study kids, one of our colleagues specializes
in seniors and death, dying and grieving, we have
personality,
neuroscience and
the unique thing is the hands-on experiences that our undergrads get.
I think about fifty of our undergrads presented at the recent Western
Psychological Association Conference.
We take them all down to wherever the conferences is, they present their
individual research projects. I do a lot of service-learning, you get to work with
kids in the schools
almost every one of our faculty members get students out in the real world
applying what they've been learning in the classroom, so it's a really
small environment, we know all of our students by name. We really have a connection with
our students and we try to get them out into the real world and not just
learning about things and ivory tower.
