As you’ll hear in this collection of short videos, Johnson County Community College in
Overland Park, Kansas, is a great place to work. The college has received many honors.
In 2009, JCCC was named “a great college to work for” through the Chronicle of Higher
Education’s 2009 Great Colleges Program. We’ve been listed among the top-rated community
colleges the past five years by the Center for Digital Education and Converge Magazine.
Our debate team has been national champions for two years now. Our athletic teams have
won national championships. Our international service-learning project in Las Pintas, Mexico,
and our sustainability program have been recognized nationally. And these are just a few examples.
But as you’ll see in this series of videos, when our faculty and staff talk about the
college, they don’t mention the awards and recognitions. Instead, they talk about our
students, about reaching them in the classroom and helping them learn the skills they need
to succeed in life. They talk about how good it feels when they know they’ve connected
with a student. They also talk about each other – the support they feel from their
colleagues and from the services the college provides. While we’re proud of the awards
the college has received, that’s not who we are. Johnson County Community College is
about the professors in the classroom and the staff and administrators who keep an eye
on day-to-day operations. And, most importantly, it’s about the students. As you’ll hear
over and over again, JCCC “changes lives through learning.” As you go through your
job search to find just the right position, we hope you’ll consider Johnson County Community
College. We’re looking for great teacher-scholars and able administrators to join us in this
important effort – to change lives through learning. You’ll be welcome at JCCC.
