In this video were going to explore maximum and minimums with regards to graphing in calculus,
hand graphing, graphing by hand, we’ll get started here, to access my menu you have to
put in my code, you have to press 2nd alpha so you can enter letters in your Titanium,
you have to enter I n d e x and then alpha again to enter numbers and closed parenthesis.
The closed parenthesis tells the calculator that you want to do a program. We’re going
to scroll down my menu to local max and min and press enter, always you should start,
if you’re going to graph by hand, start your graph and put in the x and y coordinates,
x y axis, mark it like this on your test or homework. You have to press alpha before you
enter anything into these boxes in my programs, and so we’re going to enter a function now.
We’re going to have x cubed minus 6, minus x squared, plus nine times x, plus 2, and
press enter twice. I show you what you’ve entered so you can change it if you want.
Press the numbers here if you want to, you can press the numbers before the choice, I’ll do that
now. We have the original function, we find the derivative of the original function, then
factor the first derivative function to get x. The critical numbers are 3 and 1. We plug
the critical numbers back into the original function to get the y values and by checking
the value of the y values, the larger one is the maximum and lower is minimum. Now mark these critical
points on your graph. Every step calculus dot com, check it out.
