Granddaughter: Hi Grandma. Cutie: Hello Sweetheart. Granddaughter:
You re very naturally funny and I wonder if you could tell us who your favorite comediennes
were over the years. Cutie: I think Lucy was. Granddaughter: You re a Lucille Ball fan?
Cutie: I think so. Granddaughter: So have you ever felt, when you say something, oh,
that s what Lucy would have said? Do you feel that you're on a similar comic wavelength?
Cutie: I don't think of what I say. Whatever falls out of this mouth, that's what you get.
Granddaughter: Right. And that's what being a natural is. Cutie: Thank you. Granddaughter:
Tell us about Mrs. Goldberg. Voice behind camera: Oh yeah! Cutie: Pardon me? Granddaughter:
[inaudible] a sing-song voice] You-who, you-who, Mrs. Goldberg. Cutie: Well that was really
in my youth. I remember them, but slightly. I was really quite young then. Granddaughter:
But you listened to those shows on the radio? Cutie: Yes, it was fun. Granddaughter:
And you lived in the tenements in New York. Is that what life was like for you? Cutie:
What? Granddaughter: Mrs. Goldberg's life: leaning out the window and yelling to your
neighbors. Do you remember that? Cutie: No, I was a little bit elegant. I didn't
yell out the windows; I would wave. [laughter] Granddaughter: Well you were cosmopolitan.
You came all the way from Egypt; you were sophisticated. Cutie: I was what? Granddaughter:
You were sophisticated. Cutie: I was supposed--?. Not really, but I think when you re born
you are either a lady or you're a peasant, and I was lucky enough to be a lady. Granddaughter:
Hmm, luck. Ok. What about the people who are born peasants? Do they have a chance- can
you learn to be a lady? Cutie: Of course. You can always reach one step higher. We can
all want more; just don't step on other people's toes. Granddaughter: Give us one good tip
on how to be a lady. Cutie: How to be a lady...? Play everything quietly and be kind to the
next person. Here's my lover. Closed captioning by Yael R. Vinciguerra
