Meet our June Maven Colors
Hello Mavens today we’re going to give you a little peek behind the curtains into how
we come up with what to put in your Maven Box each month.
Each month we choose a theme that inspires us, and June’s theme is “Be Bold”! Summer
is the perfect time to be a little experimental with color; and to try something that you
might not have tried before. So, our June Maven Boxes feature, this fun collection of
“Pedicure Brights”.
This summer, your nails are your key fashion accessory. These are not colors that fade
into the background. We call these “Pedicure Brights” because it’s sandal season but
this collection really reminds me of children’s crayons, and they’re perfect for mixing
and matching.
For some of you, just wearing these colors at all might be a stretch. But for others,
you might want to use them as accent colors or nail art. Whatever being means to you-Consider
this your palette.
So, I wanted to give a few of my favorite ways to wear these bright colors. And, right
now, I am just really in love with Courtney and Daisy. I wanted to wear these colors together,
because whenever I see two colors that look gorgeous next to each other, it’s always
fun to do one of them in an accent nail.
So I have Courtney which is in the American Beauty box this month, and Daisy which is
in the Boho box. One fun thing you can do is to use a glitter top coat. Like our Oscar
which was in the February box. And use that to tie the nails together and to give them
a little bit of sparkle.
Another fun and easy way to combine color is to do polka dots and I’m going to show
you how I do them at home.
What you need to do, is pour out a little bit of the polish. I like to let it dry for
a little bit so that it’s a little tackier. You might have a dotting tool, but if you
don’t you can make your own, with either an orange wood stick, if you want a small
dot a needle or half of a Q-tip for larger polka-dots and it’s fun to mix and match
different sizes.
First I’m going to show you what each of these looks like on paper before doing it
on my nails. So you just go ahead and dip it a little bit into the polish and there
you go! How easy was that? You usually can get through two or three before you need to
go back and get more polish. As you can see, that makes pretty big polka dots. And if you
want smaller ones, you can use a needle and you can use and orange wood stick.
So I am going to do these green olka-dots on my accent nail. And I love it ties the
other color of the nails into the accent nail. And in no time at all, you can create a really
unique look that is so fun for summer!
With every new nail color collection we make at Julep, we are always thinking of ways to
help you push beyond your comfort zone and try something new. So I challenge you this
month to start with nail color but look for other places in your life to be bold.
