This tutorial is designed to show you how to add users
into your Blackboard course. The thing you want to keep in mind is
that the other users have to have a UNCG account.
This is actually one of my most common requests, which
is why I decided to make a tutorial about it.
First I’m going to login to the course I want to add a user to.
I’m going to scroll down and click on this
this “Users and Groups” section. I’m now to going to click “Users.”

Now your initial inclination is going to be to type their username right here.
But you’ll find this box will only search those who are already in your class.
What you want is to click “Fine Users to Enroll."
Right here.
Now you have a couple options. If you know the usernames of the
folks that you want to add, you can type those right here.
Separated by commas if you want to do multiple people at the same time.
If you don’t know their usernames, but you do know their last names
you can hit the “Browse” button and search by last nane.

There’s the person I want to add. I’m going to click the check box
next to their name and click “Submit”. Next we need to decide
what type of role we want to give them.
We have a couple options. Student is pretty self-explanatory.
The instructor role is going to give people the ability to add
add and remove content from semester to semester or within the same class,
as well as grade content.
The teaching assistant role is basically identical to the instructor role
except that their name is not going to be listed
on the main page. More often than not if folks want another faculty
member added into their class. This is the role they want.
They want to give them access without broadcasting the fact to the
students that there is somebody else in the class with an advanced role.
These other roles: course builder, grader and guest, aren’t very helpful for our purposes in the School of Education.
So I recommend that you use
one of the first three roles (student, teaching assistant or course builder).
A lot of people want to add people as a guest
This role was actually designed for the K-12 setting. For a parent
to be able to view the class. But in fact a lot of the things
they can see are restricted. Same thing for grader and course builder.
Those three roles are very restrictive in what they can see.
If you want to give someone the ability to see what you see,
then go with the teaching assistant role.

Now I see that I have the green flag right here.
The user has been added successfully.
If I want to I can scroll down and double check that they’re in there. Sure enough they are.
If they login to Blackboard now they should be able to see this class.
I hope this tutorial has been helpful for you and if you have any more
questions please feel free to send me an e-mail at nshunnic@uncg.edu
Thanks and have a great day.
