This is Don Daly representing expertvillage.com and in this clip we are going to demonstrate
a standing sweep with an open guard. The guy is in my guard, I am closed guard on him.
He decides he wants to stand up to try to pass my guard. Okay he stands up and I keep
my guard on. But I can see where his feet are is close enough that I grab his ankles.
So what I am going to do is I am going to grab his ankles, I don’t want to go high
by the calves, I want to go right here, right on top of his heels, we got to hold here,
I am going to unlock my guard. So I purposely unlock and very important to drop the hips
to the ground. So we cannot sweep him with the hips up we need to drop down. Once the
hips are down we put the knees together. What I am going to do is pushing my knee together.
I am going to use that to push him back as I pull his feet from underneath him. So I
am going to pull. I am going to push. We are going to take him backwards. So hands here,
knees together, I am going to pull and I am going to push him. So he will fall this way,
okay as I come up I post a hand down, I sit up to one side, bring my knees up and take
him out of position. He is in my guard he stands up. I see I can grab his ankles, I
go right behind the ankles at the top of the heels, open my guard, drop hips, knees come
together, I push and pull, he comes backward I post one hand down, too hard to sit up like
this, so we post a hand, bring the knee in and the other knee, and take him out of position.
