with regard to don't ask don't tell i cannot think of a policy that greater undermines the
integrity of our entire armed services and who we are as a nation this is a policy that
is corrosive. You are asking men and women who want nothing but serve this country to give
their lives for this country to say no you cannot because of who you love. I can't
think of something more egregious more undermining of our command structure and of our goodwill
and the entire fabric of our military lives of the men and women who serve. we've gone
to a point in our history where I hope
neither a race, nor religion,
ethnicity, or our gender, or
*** orientation should deprive Americans
of uh... serving our country uh... as the patriots that they are. On this vote the yay’s
are 63 the nay’s are 33, 3/5 of the senate dually has choosen and sworn
having voted the affirmative the motion is agreed to.
