Hey everyone! The Water Marbler here, comin' at ya today
with a little bit about what to do when your drops are sinking
when water marbling with nail polish.
So when water marbling with nail polish, you're relying
completely on the surface tension of the water to
float the drop across the surface of the cup.
This is unlike ebru or traditional Turkish marbling where
you actually mix a gum into the water in order to give the
water enough surface tension for the pigments
to float on top.
That's why you see them able to drop very thin pigments
from quite a height just by tapping it off of their brush.
But that is not easy to achieve with nail polish.
In order to give the polish a better chance of floating across
the surface instead of sinking, you have to drop
the polish fairly close to the surface of the water.
If you're having trouble trying to get a drop to fall,
you can touch the drop to the surface of the water
and gravity will do the rest for you.
You don't want to touch the brush to the surface of the water though,
because getting water in it can ruin your nail polish.
If you do manage to sink a drop or two, that's ok
as long as you're not using a Styrofoam or SOLO cup.
Sometimes you can coax a drop back up to the surface
with a toothpick, but most of the time I just let them go.
I really hope you enjoyed this video and it helped out
with your sinking polish problems.
Happy Marbling!
