Bob: Hi everybody, welcome to Know Your PC. I am Bob.
Malou: And I'm Malou.
Bob: And we are here today to talk to you about the new HP TouchSmart PC IQ500 series.
Malou: So, we'll show you a series of episodes and help you get to know your PC
a whole lot better and have some fun with it.
Bob: Absolutely. Now this PC is very special because its all-in-one.
Which means the display and the PC are put together in one sleek and elegant package.
Malou: So it's a fully functional computer.
Bob: Absolutely. It's HD, it's also got wireless keyboard and mouse and this one has a TV tuner.
Malou: Okay. I like to open up packages can we?
Bob: Okay. Malou: Sounds good.
Bob: Yeah. Here it is. Boom! Malou: All right. Very nice.
Bob: What do you think of the box? Malou: Beautiful.
Bob: Right? It's very, very classy. I like the black, I like the black box.
As I said it's got the intuitive touch. This one also has the TV tuner card.
Malou: Ooh. Bob: Not everybody is going to have that but this one does.
Malou: Okay.
Bob: Let's open it up. Malou: Okay.
Bob: All right. Swing it around, pull this tab out and then we're going to lay it down.
Malou: All right.
Bob: Open her up like a pizza box. Tada! Malou: Poster.
Bob: First we have is this poster. A wonderful poster.
If you guys at home ever want to do the step by step, this is it.
Malou: Has all the pictures.
Bob: Absolutely. Nowthe back side, it's all your ports.
A bit more descriptive. All right. Put that aside.
Malou: All right. Box, so we have little recycle signs here.
Bob: Absolutely. All these boxes are recyclable to include the big box.
Let's start pulling stuff out. Malou: All right.
Bob: Tada! Malou: Viola!
Bob: We have it all here. Laid out for you to see.
Before we see the actual computer I'm going to show you some of the accessories.
Malou: Okay. Bob: Okay. This right here is the remote control.
If you have the TV tuner card you'll probably get this remote control
and it will obviously control the TV on your computer. We bring batteries included.
All right. This right here is the IR Blaster. The IR Blaster ... if you have a cable or dish box,
you stick this on the actual remote sensor and then you plug this into your computer. That way...
Malou: These two talk to each other. Bob: Exactly. Malou: That's how they connect.
Bob: Now this is your Y cable. You can connect your cable setup box.
If you're using S-Video to connect it to your computer then this is your white
and red RCA jack. It gives you stereo, line into your computer. Boom! Malou: Easy.
Bob: This is your documentation and limited warranty package.
Definitely check this stuff out later. We have power brick, power cable.
Malou: Now, what do we have here? Cloth.
Bob: This is a soft cloth you can use because we have to touch the screen.
Malou: Mm-hmm. A little cleaning off.
Bob: It will clean off your smudges, no offence, but your fingerprints will be on it.
Now you can use any soft, dust-free cloth. Malou: Spray?
Bob: Yeah. Any glass cleaner. It's just a high quality, non-treated glass.
Malou: Okay. Do you spray it right on the glass?
Bob: Do not spray right on the glass. Thank you for asking that.
Spray it on your cloth first and then wipe.
Malou: And you can still be the clean freak that you are.
Bob: Absolutely. There's important instrumentation that you do not want to get
anything going down into you. Malou: Keep it nice and pretty.
Bob: All right. Excellent and wirelessmouse, wireless keyboard and that's it.
Malou: All right. That's it.
Bob: All right. Let's push this all aside because we got to reveal the master to-be.
Malou: Okay. Bob: Here we go.
Malou: Move this over. Bob: I'm going to let Malou take it out.
Malou: Thank you. Bob: You're welcome.
Malou: Oh, it's not that heavy. Bob: It's not that heavy
Malou: I'm not holding my breath. It's not that heavy.
Bob: You don't have to go to the gym today though. All right.
Before you lay it down, I'm just going to ... I have a towel.
Make sure you have a blanket or a soft towel or something like that
because we are going to put the computer face down and we want to protect it.
Malou: Face down? Right here?
Bob: Put it face down because we have to unwrap it.
Malou: All right. Bob: All right. So let me take that off.
Malou: More unwrapping. Bob: More unwrapping.
Malou: Okay. Oh, I hate when that happens.
Bob: It's all right, it happens. We're not going to be using it again so ... All right.
I'll pull that. Go ahead and take that out. All right. Just to let you guys know, and you,
do not stand it up like this. Okay? It's not stable at all and that is not how you do it.
All right? I'll show you how you're supposed to stand up your PC.
This is the stand. Okay? It's going to support the computer obviously.
Go ahead and pull it up. Malou: It's kind of ...
Bob: It's a little stiff. You're not going to break it. Okay?
Malou: Go ahead and pull it?
Bob: Just pull it all the way. See, the click means that the stand is engaged.
Go ahead and push it down. Pull it up again.
Malou: Okay. So, don't be afraid.
Bob: Let it go. It's not going to snap back on my finger. See? It's a very strong stand.
Malou: Cool. Bob: And that's on purpose because you want to protect your computer.
Malou: All right. Bob: While we have it down here, we also have a couple other things.
This here is where you plug in the power.
Malou: Okay. Right in the center.
Bob: Yeah. I want to say power button but it's not a power button.
This is the power inlet. Malou: Okay.
Bob: And then we also have this which is the wireless adaptor.
That's the receiver for your wireless keyboard and mouse.
Malou: That's already in there.
Bob: It comes like that. I'm just showing it to you.
Malou: It's so simple. There's not a lot going on back here.
Bob: Let's start it up. Malou: Okay.
Bob: Remove that. Thank you. Now, real quickly, just to talk about the stand real quick.
Put your hands on either side. Malou: Here?
Bob: And push it away. Malou: Push.
Bob: See. Now you can let go. It will stay like that.
Malou: Oh, look at that. So easy.
Bob: What happens is if there's a glare from the sun
or you want to change the angle on the camera that we have right here,
you can push it away. It will stay anywhere from the 10 to 40 degree angle.
Malou: Okay. Bob: That's another reason why the spring is so strong.
Malou: Ten to 40. Ten to 40.
Bob: All right. Let's put this bad boy up in power. Come on now.
Malou: Power cord here.
Bob: Power brick and power cord combined to make power. Malou: (Laughs)
Bob: All right. Go ahead and plug this together.
Malou: That's it.
Bob: Perfect. I'm going to plug ... oh. I'm going to plug the computer into ...
Malou: Want this? Bob: Yes please.
Malou: Okay. Bob: May I have it please.
Malou: There you go.
Bob: She makes me beg for everything. I'm just going to plug this into a search
suppressor or power strip. Anything to protect your computer obviously.
All right. Let's just bring it a little bit further to you. Malou: Thank you.
Bob: I showed you where to plug it in. Okay. Before you plug it in that way,
let me just show you. This is little wire wrangler. Go ahead and run the wire through that.
Malou: Oh, so go through here?
Bob: So it doesn't get messed up with the stand. You might have other wires that
come out on the side here, you can put them through here.
Malou: Makes it nice and neat. I don't like to see all those wires all the time, you know?
Bob: Exactly. Malou: Just [inaudible] like that.
Bob: All right. Viola! So, now. This button right here will power it up. So push that button.
Malou: Push? Bob: Turn it on. Boom!
Malou: So you use the power button on the top right corner.
Bob: She's so smart. All right. While this is starting up, I'm going to show you the
wireless keyboard. Woop! And mouse. Okay.
Malou: All right. Little tab.
Bob: Little tab basically that disengages the battery from being activated.
Pull it. And now it is activated. You can see the red light is on.
Malou: Okay. Bob: Okay?
Malou: Oh, is there a switch on there?
Bob: There is a switch. That's right. Thank you.
Malou: So that means it's on.
Bob: If you're ... like turning off the computer for the day or the night,
you could turn off your mouse. Save the battery. Malou: All right.
Bob: Here we go. Keyboard. Same thing. Malou: Got that.
Bob: Boom! All right. There is no on/off switch on the keyboard.
So, while all this is going on, let me just show, just in case.
All wireless mouse and keyboards that come with the unit ... Hey!
Malou: Welcome.
Bob: It's just letting you know welcome. Malou: It's upstaging you right now.
Bob: That's okay. It's supposed to. It's the product. That's what products do.
All of these, the mouse and keyboards are synced with each unit. Okay?
Now, if for whatever reason the mouse comes disconnected or it just gets
disconnected from the computer, I'm going to show you how to reconnect it.
Okay? On the bottom of the mouse here is a blue button that says connect.
Malou: All right.
Bob: All right? Now, go ahead and put this down here and in the back,
I'm going to be able to see. See how there's a blue light that's turning on?
Malou: Yes. Bob: Okay. Remember that thing ... that USB drive I showed you?
Malou: Yes. Bob: That's the blue light saying it's activated.
Now, for some reason it's not activated you will not see that blue light.
What you need to do is you take this blue button, you need to press it.
Malou: Okay.
Bob: You're going to wait for the blue light to turn on and then turn off
and then you will let go of the button.
Malou: Okay. So just point, wait for the blue lights turn on. Do you see it?
Bob: Yup, it's there. Malou: There it is.
Bob: And then ... Malou: Wait for it to turn off.
Bob: Let go. And that blue light is that same little drive that I showed you and that
just means it's now talking. Let's see, is it working? Malou: Yes. I see it.
Bob: Boom! You do the exact same thing with the keyboard. This is the blue button.
Exact same thing. Make sure you keep it about a foot away from the computer.
All right? Malou: That's it?
Bob: That's it. Malou: We're all setup. That was easy.
Bob: So get registered, get online. I'm going to tuck this back just so people can
see that you can tuck the keyboard in, it makes and ... nothing there.
You have turned on your computer now you got to register it.
Malou: All right.
Bob: If you have any questions you can always go to ...
Malou: Hp.com/go/touchsmart.
Bob: Absolutely. Thanks again for watching Know Your PC. I am Bob.
Malou: And I'm Malou. We'll see you next time.
Bob: Have a good one guys.
