So we have this big idea of personalising the entire university
experience.
Their experience in the library, in the stores, in their social life, in their
courses
and make it all more powerfully directed toward their
aims and goals in life. We all like solving problems, we like working with
other people, we like using our creative
thinking abilities and working with others in creative
context, so the future education is going to look a lot more like that.
We want to put them in a 360-degree environment with a
headset where they can experience what it's like. So if you move your head
around the picture changes immediately and you see
the space around you. In a game or serious
simulation the feedback is immediate and on target.
So you know exactly, when you do something, you know it impact.
So instead of waiting a week or two to find out how you're doing
you know within seconds. We will have something that gives you feed back to the
body.
It's like a vest with pressure points. We want to have a
complete immersive and authentic feeling.
The other thing that's happening in games is that the goals are very, very clear.
You know when you're on the winning track. So what we want in education is for
something very similar to that to be occuring.
You don't want to be working in the dark. You want to work toward very clear goals
with a very good, solid, immediate and useful feedback,
In the a wing clinic scenario, we scripted
a learning sequence where our students had to
come into a space, they had to follow a specific procedure
of reading the client's notes, selecting the right forms to go and
examine her with, then examine the client. They had to wash
their hands at specific times, they had to choose the correct
dressings and they had to ask the right questions. It's been
always a very difficult thing to figure out when you're working in a group well
he did the contribution of this or that.
So in a fully digitised environment where all the group work is
presented online, we know what everyone has done, all the contributions.
People's ideas will be more acknowledged. We'll know how an idea developed over
time.
The ideas of bringing students from all around the world together is, having the
same equipment
and they will be at the same virtual space, looking at the same
things at the same time and by that collaborate together
and learn together.
