this is my if my first Blurb Book
uh...
I'm making this video at night so
the colours will look
probably terrible
there's a horrible blue cast down here and here but I
I believe it's more my fault
bad processing in uh...
in iPhoto or whatever
it was I used
flat colours here but i really do think that was me. The cover is
a good quality
paper
compared to
some other things I've seen
There's literally no design involved
just white pages inside, white pages again
this is ...
Direct Positive paper
taken with the er ..
Crown Graphic
uh...
5x4
a funny picture of me
this is actually just a lighting test. I thought I'd try out
a new flash that I had
and uh... the 'Chocolate Dog' logo
which I had a
website called 'Chocolate-Dog.co.uk'
which, err, I
kinda showcased paintings and stuff which is long gone. Again, as we move in
this is an iPhone shot
it looks fine but the yellows are looking a bit funny but again it's more
my processing, i don't think it's to do with the
quality printing. So, it looks fine. The paper feels quite nice.
A black and white JPEG, a high
contrast JPEG kinda mushed together
some kids hanging around. There's a
potential suicide happening here hence this line cutting across here, this ticker tape
um, I don't think the guy actually did kill himself but he
certainly caused a stir and there was a lot of people around,
including me of course
taking photos of everybody
this is a bit dark this one but I'm not sure if it was because of me
it probably was. I was
using a
high ISO, the light was failing
I didn't want to use flash
but I liked the runners here
and the interaction here
and most of all I hung around
for quite a bit to get
this bloody arm in but I still don't like it
but I like it enough to
chuck it in as a test picture. It's a bit grainy.
this is an 'off the cuff' shot
I just saw the
beautiful light and the light on the legs was just amazing I just had to make that
again, GF1
most of these pictures are digitals shots. Another one here is the infra-red
with the Casio.
they are mostly digital shots because my
scanning is
pretty shoddy
and most of
my film
scans were pretty poor. Anyway ...
this is the
this is the Vericolor
or however you pronounce it, a Kodak film 'Vericolor 3' I believe
taken with the Mamiya universal
I thought it would make ..
or would work as a
full bleed
um ...
obviously the photo's of her in the white
cardigan and stands out.
This guys big noggin, big head
in the middle. I quite liked that
and trying to balance it out with
these people over here
uh...
don't know if that works or not
it's a dirty scan as well, of course. Pretty much everything I do, film wise,
is just a dirty *** mess that is just unfortunately the way I am. There's a
nice smudge right in the middle of her forehead
I guess I should wash that negative; here's another one here
I should wash that negative
try and get it looking like .. it should do
and more
more GF1, this guy looks pretty sinister but he isn't
um, he's just trying to look over
folks heads
that uh...
the Edinburgh Festival is on
the High Street
there is the performance happening, it's just bustling with people
over here, just lots of heads and he's trying to peek over the top
and manages to look just a wee bit sinister in the process
this is an iPhone shot, um ...
with Camera+, I can't remember.
uh...
and I don't think they're laughing at me. They were just getting off a
tourbus, I don't know where they were from, but she had a funny smile.
reminded me a little bit of my Auntie Peggy
and here is another GF1 shot
like the majority of these will be
digital frames on this, uh ..
book
until I scan
my, er, favourite film shots
a bit better
uh... this the street photography photo-walk my first ever
photo-book
the GF1 was so slow at focusing
and charging
and firing its *** flash
that they turned round and made the photo a hell of a lot better
lots of smiling and like
"thank you"
and she really made that photo. Yeah,
it was good. I liked that.
yeah, a bit of manipulation here to make this
orange pop a bit more
this was
very flat and looks very flat on the page
uh...
but it's kinda
what I wanted really
I really wanted that to jump out because it was disgusting
next to this
blue/grey monotonous junk
uh... so yep so I liked that er, appart from the
*** sky.
Candid street shot GF1 again
black and white JPEG
I uh, like the
high contrest,
high contrast
sun which we don't see much of
in Edinburgh
or Scotland in general, we don't see much of the sun and when it comes out
and throws shadows like that, we jump at it; and I enjoyed it.
this is a colour one with
the Casio, the Casio
Exilim, the infra-red ...
so, ah, I'm trying to thing what colours probably wouldn't be
true in real life ...
probably hair was probably a bit darker, it looks quite red there.
I just loved that blue and seeing her scarf
got to take that picture, that was a nice
candid moment.
yeah, I liked that combination of blue and pinky red.
street photography meetup again, same one.
this would've been a hell of a lot better if this photo ... this photo has him stubbing out his
cigarette
and there's a puff of smoke coming out
coming out
of his mouth there.
this would be a better photo
if it had more space to the left but you can't even see that so I don't know why I'm mentioning it.
it's really about her anyway.
and it was a test frame anyway I think,
so
are my settings looking ok?
so this is the, erm,
this is like a precursor to me
taking up photography again
for the second time I guess
before I
bought the GF1, before I
before I bought any of the 46, whatever how many cameras I've got
and before I made that big
buggering box camera, the
16x20 or whatever it is
this is again, ah,
the early shots, the early photos I made.
I included this because
I just love her, I love the makeup, the
cigarette, the look, the
hair ...
and this guy
this is the kinda photo that made me want to make more photos
and, erm ...
yeah anyway
that's that. And I've got my
copyright nonsense.
the 'Chocolate Dog' logo which I can't even remember
the genesis of that, I think it was in a silly book I made and
it was something about doing a jobby
in the toilet which was in the shape of a dog.
something really juvenile like that.
it's got a QR code
or some kind of QR code
yep, so that's my photo book
purely
a test to see what the paper
quality is like; I like.
um...
see what the printing quality is like;
I also like.
it's pretty good, the blacks are pretty good the colours look pretty good
you get out what you put in and sometimes I put in pretty bad pictures.
pretty, erm, poorly
processed pictures
I quite like it.
I don't think I'm a photographer I just like taking pictures; I like
things like this
it's a photo-book, it's for fun.
