I chose to pursue my MBA so that I could
really accelerate my advancement
in my career.
As I had gone as far as I was going to go
and I needed more tools for my toolset to move ahead.
♪
I come from a strong IT background
and that's kind of all I know
so I knew an MBA program would expose me,
just different skills that I felt like I needed to build.
My Meredith MBA has been one of the greatest tools
to prepare me for corporate America.
In the Meredith MBA program
I discovered new things about myself.
At Meredith we have the same caliber
of instruction, the same course content
as you will find at the best business schools
in the nation and in the world,
and yet we deliver that in an environment
that's very personal and individual.
I wanted to be a part of an experience
and I knew that the small class size
would really help in that.
The AACSB Accreditation is important
to a perspective student.
We attract and we retain high quality faculty
who must keep up to date in their respective fields
and bring that current information
into the classroom.
Meredith has a lot of flexibility.
They also allow you to take classes at your own pace.
Going to school and working is definitely challenging,
but I feel like the professors at Meredith really work
with us to have that balance.
You know the best part of the Meredith MBA program,
I thought, was the fellow classmates,
the peers.
These were all people
from all the local big business areas
from around the triangle.
There's such a diverse group of students here,
and so what they're able to contribute to a conversation
may be completely different than what I can contribute.
That kind of diversity brings a lot of different
perspectives and one of the important things
about an MBA education is that students
do a lot of learning from each other.
People in HR think differently
than people in Sales,
who think differently than Developers,
and that really helped me get a broader view.
And the knowledge that you're learning in classes is big,
but the relationships that you're building
are lifetime relationships.
When looking for a job and looking to transition
to something different,
I was blown away by the responses
I got from my fellow Alumni.
Students have a lot more personal
and tailored interaction with their faculty here
than they do at most other places.
The Meredith faculty has a lot of experience.
They definitely have worked for similar companies
so they know exactly what we go through at work.
I'm able to relate exactly to what the students
are going through in the classroom
and situations that they encounter at work
are situations that I had when I was at work.
A considerable part of the instruction
is based on the case method,
that means students get a real business problem,
they analyze it.
That's a very real world kind of instructional method.
What I'm learning in class I'm able to directly apply
because it changed the way that I think.
♪
I had a chance while I was here at Meredith
to practice, to practice being
a business professional.
Because of this I was able to start
at a Business Analysis level at a major Fortune 500 company
and move very quickly through the ranks
to a Global Manager of recruiting and relocation,
and then a Global Manager of training and development.
I was able to earn three promotions
that I know directly came from
and were an output from the program
and what I was learning.
For different things that I've learned
and different traits that I'm now demonstrating
because I'm thinking more as a leader
than an individual contributor,
I feel like that had a lot
to do with my most recent promotion.
The MBA program at Meredith
had a profound impact on my professional career
because it allowed me to move
from different positions more easily.
It helped people recognize that,
hey, she's capable of handling
different types of positions
because of that broader skillset.
I'm very confident now.
I'm able to use what I learned
to apply to my new job.
Meredith's MBA gave me the principles
and the foundation to be successful
in the workplace.
It was definitely worth my investment.
