We are talking today about inboard wrist locks, how to apply them, and how to use them for
your self defense. Okay, we are going to demonstrate the inboard wrist lock from a straight grab.
His right hand grabs my left arm so just straight across the body. What you are going to is
you are going to take and rotate your hand up, the palm facing away from your body, and
then you take your hand, grab across the pinkie side of his hand, pry it off, and then you
will be able to gain control of his hand. Take this other hand, this free hand, and
you also, fingers in the palm, thumb on the back, apply pressure towards his shoulder
and then straightforward out towards the body, out of the way from the body. That way, you
will be able to get effectiveness of the technique. If you apply it in one direction, it will
not have the same effect on his body. Also keep in mind that if you apply this technique,
again you rotate up and grab and you flip, it begins to turn his body away from you so
that any risk of him striking with his hand is pretty much taken out because it is so
far away that also I am beginning to lean his body over, which allows me to off-balance
him, possibly throw him down to the ground. That is your inboard wrist lock from a straight
grab.
