Hi. I’m Chris from Three, and I’m going to show you how to transfer the contacts
from your old Nokia to your new phone.
First, use the USB cable that came with your old Nokia, to connect it to your computer.
Now I've connected my phone to the computer, a pop-up appears.
From this, I select 'PC Suite'. Double click on the 'Nokia PC Suite' icon.
This will open the PC Suite.
As your phone is connected, it will recognise your phone and it will appear on the left
hand side.
Now, click on the blue 'Contacts' icon.
This will open the Nokia Communication Centre.
Click 'Edit' and 'Select all' to select all of your contacts.
Now click 'File' and choose 'Export'.
This will open a pop-up. From here you should choose:
Where you want to save your contacts, what you want to call them, and most importantly,
the file type.
We'll be using 'CSV'.
When you're happy with this selection, click the green tick.
Your contacts will now export to your computer.
Once you've exported your contacts, I'd recommend making a copy of those,
on your desktop for example.
This is so you've got a backup, just in case anything goes wrong.
We've done a lot of research into a fast and easy way to get your contacts
from your computer onto your phone.
We're going to suggest using Gmail.
Gmail is more than just email. It's a place where you can store information
that's important to you, including your contacts.
If you don’t already have a Gmail account, it’s free and easy to set one up.
Just go to google.com, click on ‘Gmail’,
then, click the 'Create an account' button.
You'll be presented with an account setup form.
Enter your details to set up your account.
Once you have your account, back in the Gmail window, click 'Contacts'
in the menu on the left hand side.
Click on 'More actions' and click 'Import'.
Then, locate your CSV file.
Select your CSV file and click 'Open'. Then click 'Import'.
Your contacts are now in Gmail and are easy to get onto your new phone.
Now log in to your Gmail account on your new phone, just as you would on your computer.
Enter your username and password.
Your contacts will then be synced to your new phone.
So, that's it. Your contacts from your old Nokia are now
on your new phone and your computer.
You can edit your contacts on your phone, or using Gmail on your computer
and your contacts will automatically update in both places.
It's useful, it saves time and you don't have to worry about losing the numbers
and addresses that are important to you.
