We
are a very patient and family-centered team.
We're trying to make sure the wishes of the patient
is respected and comes true and we're trying to support the
the patient's family. Our job collaboratively with Trillium
Gift of Life is to try to make a difficult situation
the best it can be. What we want to do together is make sure where ever there
is a potential donor
the family is given the opportunity
to fulfill their loved one's wishes
if their loved one wished to be a donor. That's
only done when there's a very well-managed
and well supported donation
system within the hospital that is upheld by the physicians,
the nurses and the administration. Humber
is a 100 percent in compliance.
I'm really impressed with our team over the last six months.
Couldn't have done this without our physicians. We couldn't have done it without the
operating room team, who sometimes a volunteer
if it's after hours to support us making
this happen. So it's a phenomenal opportunity for Humber
that we have such cooperation between
our departments and our support programs like lab and D.I.
we're able to make wishes come true. We have a great relationship now with
Humber
and we would like to work together to increase the number of donors.
The next step is for us to go global within all the inpatient units
so that he will spread all the amazing great work that we're doing within
the
patients coming in through the Emergency Department or the ICU.
As a Humber team working with the Trillium
Gift of Life team, I think we're doing miracles.
