To customise a unit template in Program Builder
for the new NSW syllabuses
click ‘Start new’ in the ‘templates’ area.
Select an existing or blank template.
We’re going to customise the layout and components
of standard template 1.
Rename your template and add a description if you like.
Your template has three areas
an introduction, body and conclusion.
Click ‘edit’ to start customising any of the sections.
A strip will appear displaying the component options
available in the section you are working in.
Click the arrows at each end of the strip to view the options.
Any components already used in your template
will appear faded.
Drag and drop components into the blank box
to add to the section.
Click the square icon in the top left corner
to drag and move a component.
Use the ‘actions menu’ in the top right corner
to select how many columns a component will occupy.
The component options displayed in the selection strip
show the size of a column.
The body section of a unit is like a table
with column headings where you can add mulitple rows.
The body section is 6 columns wide.
To add a new component in this template
we need to change the size of the component’s columns
or delete one
Use the actions menu to delete any component.
If you select a blank component
you can edit the label by clicking the pencil icon
or selecting ‘edit label’ in the ‘actions menu’.
You can elect to set your new template
as your default for new units.
If you make a change to any of the templates you have created
it will automatically apply
to any all the units using that template.
Save the changes as a new template
if you want to avoid this.
