Hi, my name is Caroline Lester, and I am the Student Rights Advocate, here at the Centre
for Equity and Human Rights.
We help students who experience discrimination formulate complaints in order to find an equitable
resolution. We also work on systemic issues to ensure that students rights are being respected,
especially with regards to policies that affect all students on campus.
It's not always easy to share one's experience with discrimination or to seek help. We really
do build an active collaboration to find an equitable resolution.
Hello, my name is Sanaa and I am the training and campaigns coordinator at the Centre for
Equity and Human Rights.
There are a variety of ways to get involved with the centre. Every year, we recruit a
new team of trainers to facilitate our human rights training within the students rights
population, and we are always looking for volunteers to help us with event management,
planning, helping with our campaigns or any other promotional activities.
Personally, what I really appreciate about my job is the collaboration I can have with
the student leaders or student groups, when we offer them training that is really personalized
to the needs of their organization. We have some really interesting conversations on human
rights and the challenges that can sometimes be associated with creating a community that
really values diversity, respect, and inclusion.
