Occasionally, you might need to either reset an exam for a student
or grant a student additional exam time.
For example, if a student loses his or her internet connection while taking an exam,
the system thinks that this student has already taken the exam and would, therefore,
not let the student retake the exam. Depending on the individual situation,
you can do one of the following:
Reset the exam - which clears all saved information from the individual exam database
and allows the user to begin the exam again, as if he or she had never taken it.
Grant additional time - Allows the student to access the exam again for the amount of time you
specify. Previously saved information in the exam is still there and the student can start
the exam wherever he or she left off.
To Reset an exam First select Gradebook from the Tools menu.
Next, select Gradebook View from the drop- down menu, for this example, we will select Unit 5,
then click GO.
I will then scroll over to the assignment, Self- Check.
Then locate the student that I want to reset the exam for.
For this example, we will select Student Demo.
I will scroll over to the column that says Reset Exam (It reminds you that it will clear all
answers). I then click once to check the box to reset the exam. Then, Save Changes.
To Grant additional time On the Tools menu, select Gradebook.
Select a Gradebook View from the drop-down menu and click Go.
For this example, we are looking at Unit 5's Self- Check.
So from gradebook view, I will select Unit 5, and then click GO.
I then will scroll over to the assignment Self Check, then select the link for the
assignment.
I am going to grant additional time for Student Demo for this exam,
so I will identify where Student Demo is in the list,
then scroll over to the column that says Grant Additional Time (In Minutes).
For this example, I am going to give this Demo Student, 20 more minutes.
I type in 20, then Save Changes.
The student will now have 20 more minutes to take the exam.
