I would like to introduce myself: I am Hans Eijerkamp.
I am part of the combination of Hans and Evert-Jan Eijerkamp
of Greenfield Stud from Brummen in The Netherlands.
I've been a fancier for 63 years and I have always been looking
for the best pigeons on the market.
I think I have been doing quite well.
I think it's a great honour
that PIPA, the biggest and best auction house worldwide,
has asked me to introduce the pigeons of Leo Heremans,
because we have been very successful with them.
Now let me tell you a really interesting story.
In the end of December 2005
I attended the pigeon exhibition in Houten in The Netherlands.
My good friend Willem De Bruyn, known as "the flying dentist",
told me to have a look at an interesting loft:
"You should check out this new Belgian combination:
Heremans-Ceusters."
They came by, we had a nice cup of coffee,
we had a pleasant chat and we were invited
to their lofts in Vorselaar in Belgium.
It was a cold day and the weather was bad
during our trip to Vorselaar.
We entered the cold lofts
and held several of their pigeons in our hands.
The quality was really great.
We couldn't believe our eyes.
He took some of his best pigeons into his house
and we could all take them in the hand
and check their pedigrees.
Dear friends, I have to say
I have never experienced anything like that.
I have never seen such magnificent pigeons.
We quickly cut a deal.
We ordered 30 young birds
to be raced from Greenfield in Brummen in 2006.
It was quite a revelation.
The young birds entered the lofts as fast as lightning.
I'd like to tell you
what excites me the most about the Leo Heremans birds:
These pigeons are born
to fall from the sky as quickly as possible.
I'll give you an example:
We had a great hen called 'Beatrix' that had to win one last
good prize to make it to the Olympiad in Ostend.
Three pigeons appeared in the sky:
Beatrix and two young Heremans hens.
The two Heremans entered the lofts as fast as lightning
and were clocked first.
I remember thinking: This is it.
So we continued to race young birds
and added some more birds.
These won two first regional prizes against thousands of pigeons.
So we went back to Vorselaar
to make another deal with Leo Heremans.
We purchased new young birds to race with in 2007;
again with great success.
But what happened next?
Leo Heremans had to sell his pigeons due to medical reasons.
There was a total auction in 2007
and frankly I think it would be fair to say
that we purchased his best birds: Euro, Jackpot, etc.
I'll present them to you in a few minutes.
These pigeons are great.
Let me tell you this:
They were even more impressive in the breeding loft.
They breed really well.
It was unbelievable.
The greatest thing about this story is that
every fancier who is planning to buy one of the
outstanding pigeons of Leo Heremans will benefit
from this bloodline that crosses very well with other lines.
These pigeons can be crossed with your own breed
and this leads to amazing results.
We had for instance two hens in 2012.
One of them was the best bird in The Netherlands;
the other was the third best in the middle distance races.
They were both sent to the Nitra Olympiad in Slovakia.
I will tell you about their pedigrees as well
and whenever I think about these pigeons
I get very enthusiastic about them.
Sometimes I think to myself: how is it possible that
someone can breed such magnificent birds
Let me show you a few of my pigeons.
I will take them in the hand and I'll introduce them to you.
Let me show you something.
You are about to see the sire and the dam of the pigeon
that won the Million Dollar Race in South Africa
a few months ago. 200,000 American dollars.
I will tell you about the sire first.
And the great thing about these pigeons
- and this is in the interest of all potential buyers -
is that the crossing of these birds,
the Heremans pigeons x our old Janssens and Van Loons,
has been a great success.
This is what I said earlier:
the Heremans pigeons are excellent for crossings.
That is what makes them so valuable:
you can cross your own birds with the Heremans pigeons.
This is a great *** from '03
and the sire of the One Million Dollar Race winner.
Let me show you the dam as well.
This is the dam of the winner of the One Million Dollar Race.
What kind of pigeon is this?
This is the so called "Schouderduif".
Where did she get her name from?
This pigeon was basketed
16 times in Brummen on the one-day long distance races
- we all know the one-day long distance;
these are wonderful races -
and this pigeon
has won 16 great prizes.
The great thing about this pigeon
is that she stems directly from Heremans.
she was bred from Frigo and she will be up for auction.
The auction includes several pigeons of that same bloodline.
You can have a look yourself.
These pigeons are all
presented in this book.
In this book you can read more about
all top class pigeons that will be sold in this auction.
This is truly a great couple.
And it pleases us a lot
that we have created something new in our loft:
The Heremans line crossed with Eijerkamp-Van Looy-Janssen.
This combination has bred countless prize winners
and I am very happy about this of course.
This is the world famous Euro.
He was an ace pigeon in Europe; it's an excellent ***.
Take a look at the appearance of this ***.
He turns his head; he is very intelligent.
You can see that he has strong muscles.
This pigeon is really something.
Fanciers say that a pigeon is worth its weight in gold.
Well, that is the least you can say about this pigeon.
Someone made a generous offer but we did not want to sell it.
We won't be selling the sire of course.
We sell the descendants but not the sire itself.
Dear viewers, dear fanciers,
many other pigeons of this line will also be included in this auction
so you can obtain a few of these birds as well.
This is a truly unique pigeon.
This is another direct *** of excellent quality
which we purchased in the 2007 auction:
the world famous Lichte Blauwe.
Many descendants all over the world
have been winning prizes thanks to this bird.
He also stems from the world-famous Olympiade,
which I have already talked about.
These pigeons are all related to a select group of top birds.
This pigeon is a joy to watch.
It has such an appearance;
look at its wonderful wings.
This is a great pigeon.
It is also an excellent and kind breeding ***.
This is Lisa.
This hen was the best pigeon in the middle distance
in The Netherlands in 2012.
She was selected for the Nitra Olympiad as well.
This is another top class crossing
- which I talked about earlier -
between Leo Heremans and the old Eijerkamp bloodline:
the sire of this hen is a son of
the world famous Rossi x Spinneke of Leo
and the dam is a daughter of Flits.
Flits was a great racing *** of the old Janssen bloodline,
which was sent to the Utrecht Olympiad.
The sire of his great-great-grandfather
was an Olympiad pigeon in Brussels back in 1971.
So basically the Leo Heremans pigeons
crossed with our bloodlines
have been breeding one great champion after the other.
This hen is…
super.
This is a fine pigeon and a lovely animal.
She is now in the breeding loft; we don't basket her anymore.
We are very happy with this hen.
This is yet another top class pigeon.
This hen is our Vivian,
the third best pigeon of The Netherlands in the
middle distance and an Olympiad pigeon as well.
She was bred from Jackpot x Artemis of Leo Heremans.
Artemis was in turn bred from Blauw Gertje.
Jackpot is also the dam of Di Caprio, a pigeon of Van Dyck
that was also selected for an Olympiad.
These are basically world famous pigeons;
and the loft of Leo is full of these.
They will all be sold in the PIPA auction.
I guarantee you it will be a great experience.
This pigeon is the world-renowned Jackpot.
He was bred from Olympiade x Blauwe Kampioentje.
Blauwe Kampioentje is also the sire of Jan.
The great thing about this bloodline is that it has some Borgmans origins.
You are probably familiar with Borgmans and his Klak pigeons
and his old Janssen birds.
And that explains the success of
the combination of old bloodlines with the Leo Heremans pigeons.
This pigeon has bred an incredible number of great descendants
that have been winning top prizes all over the world.
This is an amazing bird and a top class athlete.
It is my firm belief that several birds of this bloodline
will be included in this PIPA auction as well.
This *** is really a goldmine.
Dear fanciers,
this pigeon right here is something incredible.
This hen 'Hera' is pure gold.
She has a supple body
and soft plumes. This is a great hen.
She has bred many excellent birds.
She is paired to Hercules, another direct Leo Heremans pigeon.
This pigeon bred for instance the best young bird of 2011
in long distance club "IJsselstreek".
This pigeon has also bred the winner of an important international
derby race in Croatia in 2012.
This winner originates from that same pair: Hercules x Hera.
This is a true inbred pigeon because
Hercules is a grandson of Olympiade and
Hera is a daughter of Olympiade.
This is another great combination
that has been very successful.
These old lines are also included
in the upcoming PIPA auction.
These excellent lines are still part of Leo's collection.
This is a wonderful *** and a direct Leo heremans.
This is Heracles.
Heracles was bred from Porsche,
which in turn stems from Olympiade.
This hen was also paired to Hera.
This ***, Heracles, is also the sire
of the best pigeon in the race in Croatia
in a combination with one of our old Janssen hens.
This is a race with quite a lot of pigeons from all over the world.
Our pigeon wont the first prize in Croatia,
and this is once again
a crossing of Leo Heremans with our good old Janssen breed.
This pigeon here is another top class hen,
a racing hen.
This hen was bred from Heracles x Hera,
which I have already introduced.
This hen has been a great racing bird.
She was second best pigeon in the Nitra Olympiad as a yearling;
she was the second substitute for Nitra.
We expect a lot from this pigeon in 2013.
This is undoubtedly a top class hen
that will be a great addition to our loft.
Many pigeons from this bloodline will also be included
in the PIPA auction.
Leo has told me everything about his pigeons.
Leo has always been a good friend of mine.
I think Leo Heremans has a loft...
This is something I would like to tell you...
Let's go back to the Janssen brothers
of the 1950s and '60s.
After those years there has never been any loft
that was so good as that of Leo Heremans.
Leo Heremans knows the ropes.
He knows how to get the most out of his pigeons.
He has bred a breed of which the descendants
have been winning top prizes all over the world.
So it would be fair to say
that there hasn't been a better bloodline
that has dominated the field like the Heremans bloodline
in all regions of the world.
I have seen pigeons of Heremans everywhere,
even in America, Australia and England.
These pigeons will soon be auctioned on PIPA.
This pigeon is Rossi,
which is also a well-known Heremans ***.
He was always paired to Spinneke
which I have already told you about.
A son of Rossi
has bred another excellent hen.
Rossi in turn was bred from Goochelaar,
another great pigeon.
These are pigeons that will be successful for years to come;
these pigeons are very active.
This pigeon was born in 2004 so he is not very young anymore
but he is still in great shape.
It is a strong and intelligent ***.
It is soft as silk and has strong muscles.
Dear friends, dear fanciers,
I have introduced you to
some of the Heremans pigeons.
I have told you a few things
about the origins of Leo Heremans
and about their qualities.
I think there is nothing more to be said.
PIPA is about to organise this auction,
and I am sure that all pigeons in this auction will be sold
and shipped to all regions of the world
and that they will be breeding new Olympiad pigeons
in a few years' time
which will in turn breed a lot of great descendants
of the Leo Heremans pigeons
that will now be sold on PIPA.
I wish the potential buyers
all the best.
Thank you for watching.
