Hi, welcome back to another session of 10after eLearning. I’m Dao.
In this lesson I’ll cover how to setup YourTube Channel following 4 basic steps.
You can add a Profile image, Channel Art, Channel Description and then add Channel Links to your YouTube Channel.
Then I’ll show you how to access the Channel Settings.
You can access these settings the sub-pages within YouTube.
These will give you more control over how people can view your site. Okay, let’s get started.
First login to your Google Account
then go to the YouTube page.
from the YouTube page press the sign in button at the upper right.
Then click the Next button on the bottom.
This page displays the popular YouTube Channels you can add to your page.
I'm going to choose Deselect for now. I can always edit them later.
Then click Save at the bottom.
Now click the e-mail link of the upper left hand corner.
Then click OK to confirm you want to create a new YouTube channel.
Once it's confirmed, YouTube will display your new YouTube channel. The channel has three main areas,
the left menu displays the video viewing selections.
The center displays information about your Channel. The right menu displays other channels.
This center section is the main focus of the setup.
You can see that it also contains links to other pages like Videos, Discussion and About.
To help with the channel setup YouTube has provided this four step checklist located on the upper right.
First is the icon.
Second is the Channel Art. Third is the Channel Description.
And fourth is the web links.
To start click the little pencil icon then click save.
Your YouTube Channel is linked to your Google+ page.
You need to add the icon image in Google+
Click the camera icon here.
Now I'll need to upload an image from my computer.
I'm going to choose my icon
then I'll adjust the image size.
then click Set as profile photo.
Click cancel if you do not want to share your photo at the moment.
Then the image will also be shown on Google+
Click the YouTube link to go back to YouTube. Click your name to go back to your YouTube channel.
Click Refresh to see your image loaded on the YouTube channel.
Start by clicking Add Channel Art.
I'll need to upload an image from my computer.
Here, I'll select the boat image.
Then I'll click Select at the bottom.
Once my image has loaded I can edit or change it by clicking the pencil icon and then selecting Edit Channel Art.
To access the Description, click the About link.
That brings you to the About page then click Channel description.
Type in a short description then click done.
You'll see the description displayed
in the middle of the page.
YouTube allows you to add links to other web sites that can be found here at the bottom right of your picture.
Start by clicking the pencil icon then click Edit links.
You can add custom links like your website and also social links.
I'll add a link to my website here.
I'll type in "my website" then I'll add the URL.
I can add more links but right now I'll just add social links.
I can add up to 4 social links. I'll just keep it at 2. Google+ has already been done for me.
I'll click Add. Then I'll select Pinterest
to add my Pinterest website.
then I'll scroll down.
Here you can see the channels I like and also my subscriptions.
Currently its marked as private. I'll uncheck the box to mark it as public. Now people can see my subscriptions.
Then, I'll click done.
Now my website links can be viewed here at the lower right hand corner.
I can click them to test the links.
I can test my Channel view and see how others see my YouTube Channel by clicking View as Public at the upper right.
I'll need to adjust my screen and stretch it out a bit because the public will not see the left hand side,
What they see is the right hand side like my channels and also the related channels.
Plus this middle section. I'll click the About section and scroll down.
Here, my website is displayed and also my other links.
Also my channels that I like, plus my subscriptions.
I can click Done when finished.
To open the Channel settings you can click Settings or up here to the upload button
there's a drop down menu that has access to these three options.
For now I'll just quick settings.
In the settings page I have access to the Dashboard,
the Video Manager and any of these subpages you can click
and read about them on your own.
The Channel settings also has subpages.
The Analytics page gives you access to the daily statistics of your YouTube page.
And the Inbox allows you to adjust the personal settings of the messages.
Click Video Manager to go back.
Click your YouTube name at the bottom to go back to the main YouTube page.
and then you're done!
