Questioner: If a righteous action is done, then is it permissible to tell others so that they can do it too?
Yes, it is indeed permissible.
In Surah Al-Baqarah, Allah Rabbul 'Aalameen says:
"If you disclose your Sadaqât,..." This Ayah is talking about Sadaqât
"...disclose your Sadaqât..."
then that is better for you.
Meaning it can become one of the types (type of way of giving Sadaqah).
For example, there is an occasion; Rasool SAW in the in the Battle of Tabuk
ordered the Companions that they bring their wealth and give (for the sake of Allah).
Uthman R.A gave 100 camels and many Ashrafiyyan
(then) Rasool SAW used to say that after today whatever Uthman does, he will not be harmed.
The point of saying this is that Rasool SAW mentioned the righteous deed (of Uthman) in front of the people
so that the people also can take part in such an act.
Another person can mention another's righteous deeds
to tell that others, who are in deficiencies with such an act can remove their deficiencies.
And a person himself, if he does not have fear of developing Riya (doing for the sake of other than Allah),
then he can disclose in front of people only with the intention that they also adopt the righeous act, then he can disclose it.
(with the evidence of) the Ayah of Surah Al-Baqarah which I have mentioned.
