I've been using hair gel to style my hair for decades -- I bought my first container
of hair gel when I was seven and never looked back. I've heard it all -- you know if you
use hair gel every day, you'll go bald, blah, blah, blah -- I'm in my mid thirties, I've
used hair gel for almost 30 years every day of my life, and I still have all my hair.
My favorite product is a la Bella Styling Gel with level of strength 10 -- it costs
about $3 at Target and Walmart, it doesn't flake, and it's perfect. I've been using it
for several years now.
When you are styling your hair, for best results, your hair should be damp and preferably freshly
washed. Note that if your hair is too wet - that's worse than applying gel on a completely
dry hair. Now take gel with your fingers, like that, - how much you take would depend
on how thick or long your hair is -- for my hair this initial quantity is perfect.
Now I distribute the gel evenly with both my hands throughout my hair.
After this, it's time to style the hair. Depending on the occasion -- you can create a casual
look or a formal groomed look. I'll do something in between today. And after you decide on
a look you can use more gel for detailing, like me now.
One last thing -- if you are a perfectionist like me, you might want to blow- dry your
hair
to keep the volume and freshness of the style. If you don't, the hair may lose the shape
you intended
Dry it first with a low heat and speed setting and last blow dry in slow speed with cool
air to fix. That's it. What do you think?
