Have you ever stood up on the tee box and asked your self which side should I tee up
on? Did you know teeing up on either side of the tee box can help you execute the shot
better? Hi My name is Sean McTernan and you are watching another episode of My Golf Tutor,
the number one place on the internet to play your best golf now. Welcome back and todays
question comes from Phil. Phil wants to know is there a specific spot on the tee box he
should tee the ball up on? I don't know if it based on trouble or hazards I'm hitting
towards. So Phil the determining factor on which side you are going to tee your ball
up on in regards to the tee markers is what shot shape you are trying to hit or what one
you naturally have. If you are someone who is a fader of the golf ball, someone who curves
the ball from left to right. You are going to want to tee up on the right hand side of
the tee box. From a visualize perspective this is going to allow you to hit out into
the fairway and have that area to the right of it to have the golf ball to curve back
into. Here we are on the twelfth hole, its a dogleg left to right with out of bounds
down the right hand side. Now from a course management perspective you never want to start
the ball down the out of bounds. You want to play away from it and let the shot curve
back into play. So because I have out of bounds on the right hand side I'm gong to tee up
on the right hand side of the tee box and feel like I am playing away from the trouble.
Phil we just talked about teeing up on the right hand side of the tee markers to hit
a fade. When the trouble is on the left hand side of the fairway, we want to tee up on
the left hand side of the tee box and aim down the right and let the ball curve back
to the left. If you are on a hole if there is a pond on the left hand side of the tee
box from a course management perspective we want to make sure we never get penalized from
hitting a straight shot. The theory is that we want to hit away from the trouble and let
the ball curve back. Phil I hope this helps your course management and allows you to hit
more fairways. If you or anyone else has any questions about your golf game or your golf
