Hi, I'm Liz Falconer the programme leader of the MA Education in Virtual Worlds
In this short video I'll be showing you around the University of the West of England's Second Life estate which supports the programme.
The island you can see in front of you at the moment is Innovation at UWE and this is the home of the MA.
Here is the library and resources centre, which contains links to e-books, journal articles,
spaces for collaborative learning
and a whole lot more.
If you’ll follow me, I’ll take you on a flyover of the rest of the estate.
We also have 2 neighbours, Weston College and Birmingham University.
We have sharing agreements with both institutions so all our students benefit from the potential to use a wider range of simulations
Now I'll take you on a short flying visit to Weston College's island
In front of me is the long road that runs the length of the estate. If you get lost this is a good landmark to look for to orientate yourself again.
This is the area we use at UWE for environmental health simulations. Here our students carry out accident investigations
and risk assessments and this year we'll be extending the repertoire to food poisoning outbreaks too.
Our neighbours at this end are Birmingham University.
We've been working with them over the past 12 months on simulations to support their
environmental health students. This is a quick trip to their island
So, back to the long road for orientation
Then turn right to get back to Innovation island.
Well, I hope this quick guided tour has been helpful.
Remember, when in doubt head for the long road and follow it
Thanks for watching!
