What we're going to do is we're going to explain and show you how to prep for a proper shave
that we do in the shop. First step in proper preparation is a hot towel. The hot towel's
actually going to soften, moisturize the beard so that you get a closer shave. We're going
to put the hot towel on and you leave it on for about a minute or two. Taking the hot
towel off, you want to wipe the forehead, the areas very neatly. Take it off, and what
we're going to do is, we're going to cleanse the face with a cleanser. The purpose of cleansing
the skin before a shave, what you want to do is take out all the dirt.
It also helps soften the beard, so you get less irritation on the shave. It's very, very
important to cleanse the skin, because what you don't want to do is have dirt work itself
back into the pores of the hair. Next step is we're going to take a hot towel to wipe
away the cleanser. It's essential like I said, to make sure that all the surfaces are cleansed.
That way, we'll be able to get a better shave and less irritation. The next step for preshave
is a preshave oil. What a preshave oil is going to do is offer a protectant, also again,
soften the beard.
Very important that we soften the beard through the whole process. It actually makes the blade
glide across the skin instead of pulling the hair. Most men completely forget about preshave
oil. They think it's a useless step or they don't know about it. They're not educated
about it, but it's a very important part of shaving. This is the proper way to prep for
a shave. This is going to allow you to get the closest shave with less irritation and
this is the proper way to prep.
