We heard rumors of Twitter adding photo filters to its app, but Facebook beat them to the
punch. The latest update to Facebook for iOS allows for multiple photo uploads, photo filters,
and cropping. TechCrunch says
“That means when Twitter eventually launches the feature, it will seem late to the party.
And I’ve heard Twitter is pissed and on the hunt for whoever let the news slip.”
With the new update, you can add photo filters such as Black and White, Golden, and Neon
just by pressing the magic wand. The Inquirer thinks it might catch on.
“Although Facebook's new photo tweaking features aren't quite as good as those found
on Instagram, they might manage to lure some Iphone users away from the hipster photo sharing
app.” And as Facebook gets more like Instagram,
Instagram is becoming more like Facebook. They just added online profiles for their
photo sharing community, and the Register thinks this could be the beginning of a merge.
“The Instagram profile page has the same format as FB with the bar of images at the
top, strip of photos below and inset profile picture on the left centre.”
And a writer for The Wall Street Journal says a merge might be a good move.
“Given that Facebook is one of the largest photo-sharing platforms in the world, it’s
natural to expect that Facebook would want to protect some of that, even with its acquisition
of Instagram. Still, this appears to be a step in the direction of a more seamlessly
integrated photo-sharing experience between Facebook and Instagram.”
