I've been studying law for all four years here acadia
I visited the supreme court in the past Sonia Sotomayor or is really an
inspiration I think a lot of people especially people are aspiring in legal
areas
just listening to her story and an understanding how her perspectives have
shaped
her legal opinions and how that has really transpired
in the Supreme Court just knowing that I can be a part of that and kind of get
some others more personal answers that you not necessarily good idea
by reading a bio for I think that was really
what excited me the most about this experience it was really nerve-wracking
as excited as she answered my question
an I went over my question about 50 times in my head before I asked her
I wanted to make sure that it was improved question and I was really happy
with your answer it was great to get to know her
in a more spiritual way I know that as
a supreme court justice yes to rely on her logic more than
her spirituality but it was nice to see that side I was absolutely ecstatic
I actually buy some coincidence I saw and
130 really stupid to justice Sotomayor would be coming to speak your attics of
the date happen
and I was immediately emailing professor saying how do I how do I get to see or
speak
think what do I have to do so when I found I could be part of this question
and answer session I was
absolutely ecstatic I kinda messed up and didn't
responder because I figured who are mine to the company to
and and witnesses event and i felt very honored that
some that my professor part that might have me too
think that I would deserve to come so in
very humbly very honored wanted the things that she share with us today was
the importance of being a lifelong learner
recognizing that you can be on your graduate studies did
opportunities to your professional life and also your personal life present mean
challenges that would necessitate the need to continue to learn and to
continue to grow
something I really took away that if you you have to diverse if I like don't
be afraid to try anything new
on especially when it comes in college we try tp
sites of discovery so try to learn new things
maybe take a class that you want that's outside your major
to try to better yourself as a person and grow more intelligent no
more about the world I got the chance to ask a question about like that the issue
with
person 80 cars the culture because being put to return a call to refer the power
and she was just saying how mike is going to promote and to be
automobile have to be part of a splinter group tonight to necessarily be
loud and proud that you can just be about a product on 18 minutes with you
all the time
didn't have to be under this name with that name linkages you're there
and the fact that you there show issue and where you come from a nap now
I hope to pursue law going to law school so as a women a woman
going into that field and so very male-dominated cell
it was just very nice to see that there's
like that inspiration there you know some
was able to get to the top despite out the hurdle she had jumps
even more than I had to so parks is just absolutely amazing
I think the biggest takeaway that I took from the conversation arm
was our conversation on how you measure personal success
it was a question that I had aster given such a competitive
period in our lifetime and we're all kinda trying to find our way through an
really what she was trying to get across was don't be set yet set your goals in
one specific objective
set your goals and the task at hand and then you're successful come
alongside about and I think that's something that I really took away in
really influence where I go from here is a senior looking in the job market
looking for graduate school
except my someone's going to influence my decisions from here on out
