Hi, I'm Dr. Michael Walker from Hill Country Facial Plastic Surgery Center and on behalf
of Expert Village we'll be talking about S-lifts today. How long do the benefits last? Well,
they're usually done on younger patients, and I anticipate that the S-lift will probably
last eight to twelve years. Where does one get this procedure done? They're usually done
of course at a plastic, facial plastic or cosmetic surgeon's office on an out patient
basis either in the office surgery, ambulatory surgery center or as an out patient at the
hospital. What might the complications be? Well, as any lifting procedure ,the scar is
usually pink several weeks to several months before it fades out. If the patient is prone
to keloid formation or hypertrophic scar formation, the scar can become large and pink like a
worm under the skin. But this is correctable at an early stage if it's found by injecting
cortisone. Bleeding is a rare complication. A blood clot can form underneath the flap
of the skin. This can usually be removed with a syringe and a needle. Areas of numbness
can sometimes occur around the earlobe.
