What we're going to discuss is proper storage of firefighters turn out clothing or bunker
gear when not in use, or off duty. Now, many of firefighters turn out gear is affected
adversely by ultraviolet light of the sun. So, gear that has become wet and is needing
to be dried out, or just put away for storage when the firefighter is off duty or not responding
to calls, needs to be kept out of that direct sunlight because of damage from ultraviolet
light. Basically, the gear is stored either on a peg or some type of hanger such as this,
that's going to support the weight of that gear. We place the gear on the hanger that's
specifically designed for that purpose, close up the front of it, and we take that gear
and hang it somewhere out of direct sunlight, where it has a chance to dry and air out,
and not be exposed to ultraviolet rays of the sun.
