You can see from my videos that I don't just do one thing, fill one niche. I like to do
a little bit of everything. The youtubers I subscribe to reflect this mix of interests,
as do my top 5 Youtube channels that I subscribe to. They don't just fill into one category,
so hopefully among these 5 you will find something that you will also have an interest in, and
maybe I'll introduce you to something new.
Let's get started.
First up are the vlogbrothers. John and Hank Green are American vloggers who started to
make videos in order to communicate with each other which is why they start all their videos
like this:
Good Morning John Good Morning Hank, it's Tuesday
Their videos comprise of anything and everything, from original songs about Harry Potter to
rants about lawns to answering important life questions like "But is the Worm Pizza Poisonous?"
Since then the brothers have gone to bigger and more amazing things, such as launching
Vidcon and Project 4 Awesome, The Lizzie Bennett Diaries and Crash Course. In addition to this,
John Green is a Number 1 bestselling author whose book The Fault in Our Stars is coming
out as a movie in June 2014. And from what I've been able to gather, Hank Green does
pretty much everything else. This includes creating 2-D glasses for people who hate going
to 3-D movies, genius!
The good news is that the vlogbrothers update regularly. So much so that their fan base
are actually allowed to send them punishments to do if they don't meet their schedule dates.
My second choice for my top 5 is Bubzbeauty.
Hello everybody it's Bubz, how are you all?
Bubzbeauty is run by Bubz a.k.a Lindy, formerly Lindy Tsang but she recently got married.
Bubz is a Northern-Irish Chinese youtuber currently living in Hong Kong, and she makes
regular videos about hair tutorials, makeup tutorials, vlogs and advice for girls. These
advice videos are called Girl Talk and this is what really sets her apart for me. As you
would expect, her audience is mostly made up of young teenage girls and she has actually
taken this opportunity to address real girl issues and give informative answers to things
that teenage girls actually struggle with today, such as dealing with jealousy and acne
and break ups, even bullying.
Bubz is incredibly sweet, honest, and open, and very appreciative of her audience, who
are allowed an insight into her life through her vlogging which she does on her other channel,
BubzVlogz. She has also become something of an entrepreneur as well with her own line
of Bubbi brushes, which are makeup brushes, her own line of clothing, and recently she
has started designing her own jewelry!
danisnotonfire is the creative channel name of Dan Howell, a vlogger from the UK.
Sup digiddy dogs and welcome back to the land of Dan. Danana da da I'm so alone.
Most of Dan's videos are about embarrassing things that he's done in his past, not only
to give you a laugh but also to make sure you avoid his mistakes. Mistakes such as pressing
the panic alarm at work and also having a power nap under a table at work. Dan also
takes feelings and situations that everybody feels and puts a bit of a comedic twist to
it, such as having a Cringe Attack or using public transport and he's very relatable.
His channel is very much a comedy channel and he is perfectly happy to poke fun at himself
which is great. Not only does he narrate the things that have happened to him but he also
acts them out in a number of skits. Many of his videos also feature other youtubers as
well such as Phil Lester who has the channel AmazingPhil who is his flatmate, colleague,
and friend.
Dan is not just a youtuber anymore, he also cohosts the radio show Dan and Phil which
Phil Lester, a 2 hour live show on BBC Radio 1.
One of my absolute favourite Youtube international channels is Eat Your Kimchi.
It's time for wonderful adventure now Korea, the coffee prince redemption edition.
Eat Your Kimchi is run by a Canadian couple, Simon and Martina Stawski, who live in South
Korea. They moved to South Korea to originally teach English until their Youtube careers
took off. They sent videos back home to friends and family to show what life is really like
in South Korea and has opened up South Korea to the rest of the world. Their videos now
not only show what life is like in Korea, they review Kpop music videos also introduce
you to lesser known Indie artists. In due course they have also become really experienced
interviewers and have been invited to interview a number of Kpop stars, not only that they
also are invited backstage to do the same. And they also travel all around the world
so I am incredibly jealous of them.
And lastly we have JacksGap, a channel originally intended to document the life of Jack Harries
as he went around the world on his gap year between secondary school and university. Since
that original idea the channel has grown much much bigger and very quickly. Jack is a British
vlogger who produces just some of the most top quality videos I have ever seen on Yotube.
Many of his videos actually feature other Youtubers that are just as famous such as
Caspar Lee and FunForLouis. His most popular videos tend to also star his twin, Finn Harries.
Hi there my name is Jack, and my name is Finn, and it's time...
to open some mail (laughs)
And seeing as the boys are not only twins but also kinda pretty, you can expect that
their fan base is a lot of girls. But the crazy stuff that they do also highly appeals
to males, so that's why they seem to have a very varied viewership. Since his youtube
Channel has taken off, Jack has taken to travelling the world, completing challenges and pranks,
and basically having what seems to be the time of his life. His recent videos about
completing the Rickshaw Run in India were just utterly superb and incredible in quality,
editing, and content. If you're interested in improving your own channel then you could
probably learn a thing or two from Jack and Finn.
The only downside to JacksGap is that the quality of the videos is so intense that obviously
filming and editing takes a long time so they don't upload as regularly as the others that
feature in my top 5. But this should not deter you, you should definitely subscribe.
So those are my top 5! Everyone and everything that I referred to in this video I have also
put in the description below so that you can follow to their links. I'm always interested
to discover something new so if you something that you subscribe to that you think that
I would like, and I mean, I have such varied taste it's entirely possible I will, please
let know in the comments section below, and yes, you can also vote for your channel to
be something that I check out.
See you next time.
