Please find this product at http://absupply.net/ This video is to bring you a closer look at
the Pemko 254x4AFG Mill Finish Aluminum Thermal Barrier Threshold. This threshold consists
of four components basically. Two of them like this, two pieces of offset style thresholds.
The third piece is the rigid vinyl key stock that fits in between the threshold, and this
is the part that makes it a thermal barrier threshold. This is the critical component.
The fourth item is just the screws; they look like they are about a #10 x 1-1/2" flathead
wood screws. So how this works is you take one of your extrusions and slide your key
stock into it, going to get it started here. There we go. You saw me fussing with getting
it in only because the return that is down here, the length of the top return and the
length of this return are different so you want that to be flush. Now obviously what
happens next is you other piece comes in. Now these thresholds are expensive in the
sense that they are a lot more money then the typical threshold. That cannot be denied.
However, this threshold I have seen, I've witnessed thermal barrier thresholds installed
in terms of how they perform in the dead of winter weather. Chicago, January it is 4 degrees
outside, I kid you not, the exterior threshold had frost on it, the interior threshold was
basically room temperature. That is for real, that is a serious truth that I just said.
I've witnessed it when I was a beginner in this. It was difficult to imagine how much
difference it could make in terms of the transmission of temperature between the threshold and sure
enough I was amazed. Anyway, while this is significantly more expensive then your standard
threshold, it is 8" wide keep that in mind but if retarding the transmission of cold
is paramount there is no other threshold to go with then with a thermal barrier type threshold.
So the threshold is slightly looks like this, which is going to be normal. You've got screw
holes all the way down. You need a total of six screws as you can see. Available in different
finishes, dark bronze, gold, available in several different lengths on the website.
There is an image below this video showing everything important dimensionally about the
item. Lets go over that now. You can see from that image that this item is 1/2" tall which
is typical for hollow metal doors, 1/2". And then of course 8" wide, no actually 8-1/8"
wide because you have that seam in there. Available in several different lengths on
the website as well. If you have a need for a custom length, by all means let us know
by ordering the next longest piece or pieces and indicate in the comment field what length
you would like for us to cut the material back to. The reasoning is if you had to take
this 26" piece and cut down to 30", you would all but eliminate those counter sinks. And
the next one is over here in the middle. So you are going to be drilling new holes and
then your centers are not correct. So if you order a custom length we will not only locate
the counter sinks at the proper distance from the edge, but the proper center to center
as well. Pemko is a full line manufacturer of all things commercial weather stripping
related, comprehensive offering. Residential as well, material made of aluminum like this,
architectural bronze, stainless steel, threshold perimeter gasketing door sweeps, and everything.
They also have a line of continuous geared aluminum engines. If you have any questions
