A very late special!
YP: Hello people, and ... I dunno, I'm being interruptted again
YP: Let me try this again!
YP: Hello folks and welcome to a Christmas Special!
YP: Yes, a Christmas special. I've been planning this for quite a while, and I decided
YP: To make this early for you so can well have... a special video I guess. :P
YP: And erm, for a while I've been planning on making a second Let's Play
YP: because my first one has been pretty successful
YP: I mean, I know I haven't finished uploading
YP: everything, I'm sorry. I will get round to that. JR: Lazy!
YP: What do you mean lazy, you're lazy!
JR: No I'm not. I do everything I can. ;)
YP: So, as I said, I've been choosing four games,
YP: and well, even though they are not particularly
YP: well known to most people, I still feel that they
YP: are pretty enjoyable. They used to be well
YP: known in their days maybe, but nower days, they
YP: just sit in the back of the cupboards in everyone's game piles
JR: Like Star Ocean. It's a good game, try it! PS1.
JR: I swear you won't regret it.
YP: But that's not one of the games we're going to
YP: talk about today. The four games in order, well
YP: not in any particular order. They are:
YP: MechCommander II, Need for Madness Two
YP: Keitai Denju Telefang 1 (Power) and Kuru Kuru Kururin. Those are the four games.
YP: They vary particularly well, and they all have
YP: their strengths and weaknesses. And well
YP: Some may not have any storyline at all.
YP: Some may have a very complex storyline.
YP: Some are very short.
YP: Others... will take a while to play. I guess.
YP: (to JR) Erm wait, dude, do you have any
knowledge of these four games? Or do you just
want me to cover all of them?
JR: If it's me, I know nothing about any of
these games. It will be a blind run.
YP: Not even MechCommander II?
JR: Surprisingly, no.
YP: No? But you know the BattleTech universe!
And, yeah, that is a good point to start on.
So let's go with our 1st game, which is MCII.
It is created by FASA Interactive, which created the
BattleTech universe. It used to start out as a series
of board games (from what I'm aware) but they then
turned to actual PC games like MechWarrior, which is
the most well known series out of the B.T. universe.
Then you have MechCommander and those other
games like MechAssault. Which I think no one cares
about. Maybe some people do, but not too many.
JR: How dare you insult the random (MA fans) people
who probably are not watching this video. ;)
YP: Pfft. So I should explain what MC is about.
In MechCommander, you play the role of obviously a
commander. And you're commanding a 'fleet' of
mecha (called BattleMechs). And they are piloted by
MechWarriors. In MC, you play a series of missions
with your 'fleet' of mechs... XD ... I dunno, I'm running
out of things to say!
JR: I can tell! I have this tiny, unrelated reference to
throw in, to see if anybody in the world can get it.
With one word you've said so many times, I'm
pretty sure you'll be sucked into a jar.
And that's all I have to say about that topic.
YP: Random... MechCommander II is a PC game
and it has been put into Shared Source licensing,
which means anyone can download it freely and
legally. So, try it if you want to, it's a very interesting
game, and even though it's not a direct sequel of
MechCommander 1, it's still very good.
JR: We're not held responsible if you don't like it
If so, It's your own damn fault.
YP: I mean, if you like strategy games like, I dunno
Age of Empires, Starcraft, stuff like that.
Even though this is not like StarCraft, maybe it's like
Command and Conquer, yeah. It's like that. (note MC is a RTT)
Even though I've never played that before.
JR: Did you say C & C?
YP: That's what I said.
JR: Why are we referencing so many unrelated
things here?
YP: I dunno, because they are both strategy games
as well. Which are simular to MechCommander.
JR: But the way you are saying it, you're making
assumptions. Not as if they were clearly related.
More, you assume they are closely related.
YP: Erm, the second game we're going to talk about
Is: "Need for Madness 2"!
Now, if anyone's gone like, deep down to the older
stuff in my channel, you might have noticed NFM1
While it is a successful series, I feel the start was
pretty bad, because I tended to used Club Penguin
intros. Oh, those were the embarassing days.
This time, if anyone chooses this, I'm doing a proper
Let's Play of this, with commentary of course.
Again, I'm going to speak about NFM2, if anyone
doesn't know what the series is about (even with the very obvious picture!)
The NFM series is quite interesting. It is basically a
3D racing game. And with many racing games
one of the ways you can win is to get in 1st place.
But the other way you can win is by destorying
the other cars by crashing into them.
JR: Wait, destoying alien cars?
YP: What?
JR: Did you say "destroying alien cars?"
YP: No, destroying the other cars! In the race!
And well... I'm running out of things to say again. --
It's probably one of the easiest of the four games
to understand.
JR: It's a simple racing game, no?
YP: Yeah. You can play it online, or download it.
I mean there is a Mulitplayer version, but it's only
best to use it if you have an account with
Racial Play, which is the small company that made
the Need for Madness series. They also have a
couple of other 3D games like Radical Ace.
But I don't think we'll cover those, because no one cares.
So yeah, there are lots of stages in this,
but it will be a short Let's Play if I decide to have
NFM2. I mean it is a decent racing game I guess.
JR: In which your end goal (not.) is to blow up the
zombie army invading your town.
YP: What are you talking about? Seriously?
So, if you want a decent online game, then
You can try Need for Madness 2. It's a good
way to burn of an hour, if you got the free time.
JR: Rated [R]. For Racers.
YP: (sarcastically) Ahaha, not. ¬¬
The 3rd game we're going to talk about is
Keitai Denju Telefang 1.
Now I don't think anyone has heard of this,
but the most likely source you would have heard
about the fact it was bootlegged to be
a version of Pokemon.
Yes, if you Pokemon fans know, there was a fake game
that was classed as "Pokemon Jade and Diamond"
not to be confused with the current Diamond,
Which we know is part of the 4th Gen.
JR: Dun dun dun!
YP: Telefang is an japanese RPG series, simular
to Pokemon, again, which was why it was passed
off as a very bad bootleg.
JR: Telepathic fangs, I believe.
According to the title.
YP: Erm, no, interestingly the title,
Keitai Denju Telefang, means 'mobile phone beast'
It's because, if you get the "Tele" bit, it connects
to telephones. So that's why they had that.
And the "fang" looks like a beast aspect.
So there we go.
JR: Strangest thing ever.
YP: Strange. But witty once you get it.
JR: Does this mean if I use my phone too much,
A monster will come out and devour my head?
YP: Pfft. This game, for a Game Boy Color one
is pretty, you know, long. A bit like , I guess
Pokemon Gold and Silver.
The story is that, there is this... lead character who
finds a phone-like device called a D-Shoot.
It's going to be so confusing if I even choose this
game! Basically, the D-Shoot allows you to access
the world of the Denju, which are the creatures
that inhabit the alternate dimension, as it were
on a different electrical wavelength. I guess.
I mean, that's their way of explaining it,
it kind of sounds like Digimon to me.
I don't know why, it just sounds like Digimon.
So, you ... become friends with many denju,
simular to the way you recruit (/catch) Pokemon
and there are many subplots in this game.
I mean, you get the original nasty villain team
Even though they are not really villanous
they still disrupt the world of the denju.
And one thing to praise about this game is
even though it's not well known, is the music!
It's very good for a GBC game. I mean, I've
been constantly using it for my credits for my
first Let's Play (Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: EoS)
And the music is just so good, there's nothing
bad about most of it.
And I think I'm running out of things to say again.
JR: A question I could ask?
YP: Which is?
JR: How do you think it holds up against games
like Pokemon and Digimon? In comparison.
YP: Huh? What?
JR: Ignoring how the game looks, physically looks
Or digitally, whatever...
how do you think it holds up in comparision to
Pokemon, storywise, gameplay wise etc?
YP: Again, the storyline is quite complex, and
because the game has little people who've played it
There have been little walkthroughs of it, which
means I can't really talk about the whole story.
The storyline tends to be quite long.
In terms of the gameplay, I might just cover that
if this game is chosen, because the game play is
around the same complexity as Pokemon?
It has it's differences, like for example, evolutions
are different, I guess.
I mean you get normal level up ones, but you
also get item based evolution and stuff like that.
JR: Like POKEMON.
YP: I guess. But there is a 3rd type, that's
even more complex, and I'll rather not talk about that
right now. It will talk a while to explain, I guess.
It's better to play the game and explain it
as I go along. To prevent confusion.
I mean, if I was to play this game, I can either play
the bootleg, well it has very bad English.
I got to warn you people, the English is horrendous.
JR: That will kill me inside. And the...
YP: Yes, you'll be constantly trying to correct this
poor game. (Otherwise), I can play a patched version
Which you can get from a fan-made fourm called
"Tulunk Village", named after the 'hometown' of the
Denju World. It's a bit like Pallet Town really.
Except in the Telefang series.
So I can either play the bootleg, or the patched
version that has proper English.
JR: The one with better English!
The one that won't make me punch the game
through my computer screen. >.>
YP: Yeah, I mean, this game is not very well known
but I still think people should give this game
a chance, because it's very interesting.
JR: Like Star Ocean.
YP: It seems like a lot of effort was put into
game, So I'll definally give it a thumbs up.
JR: Though the game itself would not be text,
I assume.
YP: What do you mean, text?
JR: If it's bad english... wait, my english or yours?
YP: Oh, I'm just talking about the dialouge ingame
JR: You're basically saying it's horrendously translated?
YP: Yeah. I'm talking about the bootleg
Because the erm... dialouge would be completely
horrendous.
JR: Understood, sir.
YP: So yeah, if you want to play the bootleg
I guess it's pretty funny if you tolerate the bad
English. 'cus it's pretty funny at times.
So, that's the 3rd game, Telefang.
And we'll go onto the 4th game,
JR: All you have to do now is include clips of
each game as we're talking about it.
YP: Yeah, I'll do that. The 4th game is
Kuru Kuru Kururin.
It's another Japanese series (Kururin) that's
not very well known... well I guess more well
known because interestingly there was an English
release of this game. You gotta praise this game
for having one, because many decent Japanese
series in terms of handheld console games have
never been released outside of Japan.
JR: And trust me, they'll sell quite well from
what I've seen.
YP: Yeah, but, they didn't get an international
release. Except of course Kuru Kuru Kururin.
I mean it's sequels didn't get any international
releases, but at least this game did!
And, why did it have an international release?
It's 'cus this game: Simple, yet addictive!
JR: There's a sequel!?!?!?!
YP: Nah there's two sequels, but I won't talk about
those because we're not here to talk them.
JR: Must climb Mount Everest and get one!
Be back in several decades. And die of freezing.
YP: (sarcastically) Hahaha, very funny.
So, Kuru kuru Kururin is a puzzle game, and
it's a bit like Irritating Stick. Basically you
get this stick-like craft which looks like rotating
helicopter blades, called the Helirin.
What you do, is control the Helirin. And it's
constantly spinning, which is obviously one of the
main aspects of the game. And you have to
navigate it across a series of maze-like stages
I guess. And along the way, you get more obstacles
and more complex stages, which makes the game
gradually more annoying.
JR: Snake traps, pirate traps and Mario traps.
Beware! They are all deadly, if you don't know how
how to handle them. (of course these arn't in the game)
YP: Pfft. Really?... while you can't control the
rotation speeds in Kuru Kuru Kururin, of the Helirin
you can control the normal directions and stuff
like that. So that's how you get through the mazes.
Yeah, this game is very easy to understand.
Even though there is the original Japanese version
(and the English), the Japanese one is so easy
to understand you can pick it up in an instant
and really learn it in a flash.
JR: You really need it in your set language to
understand a puzzle game?
YP: I dunno. But this game is pretty simple.
And again, for a GBA game, yeah I forget to mention
that, the music again is so good! A bit like well
Telefang. There is like a small storyline
in this game, but it's so vague, that it's not
very mentionable. I mean there's not really
any point with the storyline, but I guess it makes the
game more interesting, but it's not really needed.
JR: Okay the new (fake) storyline!
You get kidnapped by a ???, you get shoved into
a jar of pickles. You dive into one of the pickles
which happens to be a planet full of puzzles
To escape from the jar/pickle, you must finnish
every puzzle within that pickle. There is the story.
YP: Oh I hate those sort of games where you
have to escape from something. IT'S SO WERID
You know you'll never finish the game.
JR: You're being hunted down by a pickle-eating
worm, so you'd better get your rear out of there!
Or that worm will devour you. (You are so offtopic!)
And your children! Yes, they teleport with you.
YP: I mean, yeah, this game is again, pretty simple
I've said that a million times, but it obviously is!
I mean, I have the GBA cart for it, so I can pretty
much play it anytime on my DS anytime I want to
I mean, it is recommended, if you actually play this
to get the cartridge, because it's better to play this
on the GBA than on the PC.
Because you need like, lighting reflexes, if you want
... 'cus you get, like, time records to see in this game
to see how fast you've been on each stage.
And, well, I forgot to mention, if you hit the sides
of the maze 3x, you basically lose, so you have
to hit the sides of the maze as least as possible.
Especally if you want a fast time, don't
hit the sides of each stage's maze, if possible
JR: Well just Energy Ball the walls away!
YP: It doesn't work like that, dude.
As much as I want it to, it doesn't work like that.
JR: Damn logic, why can't you bend
into our will?
YP: Yeah, this is a pretty fun game.
Again, it is a great time waster like in
Need for Madness 2, those are
good games to play if you have the free time
Simple, yet ingenious.
So yeah, those are the 4 games I want to play
I mean, I could play any one of them, I guess
But I decided to do like a questionaire, and
I've been showing it to certain people.
And I have been asking for their options.
So, I guess, if you guys want to be a part of
those questionaire results, there is going to be
a link in this video, a link to a detailed
explanation about each of the 4 games,
with advantages and disadvantages.
That I have put together, so you can have your
own (degree of) choice in it. And well,
if you havn't already given me your opinion.
You can give your opinions even as a comment
in the video. So give a opinion in the comments below
or do it on Facebook. Either way, I won't mind.
Just give your 1st option that you want, and
your secondary option. Second best option.
JR: If worst comes to worst, add your 5th option
We'll consider it. (NOT) Maybe, maybe not
Could be 1% chance, something may catch his eye.
YP: Dude, there's like FOUR games to chose from,
I don't think we need a 5th option. >.>
JR: We need 92 options more.
Then we will have 96. 4 away from a hundred.
YP: What is this, a Facebook quiz or something
like that? I mean question.
JR: You're not going to have viewers on Facebook.
Well, it's unlikely all of your viewers
will know you on Facebook.
YP: Which is why I'm going to do a link on
this video as well to my Facebook,
if you havn't already like it.
Those are the 4 games I (might) want to do for
my second Let's Play. If you are
interested particularly in one or two of the games
just give me a shout, and I'll consider that
into my questionaire results, and once I get enough
I will be starting on planning the best option.
Yes. So that will be the way I choose my next LP.
If you want to stick your opinion in, just leave
a comment in the video below as I said,
or do a message on Facebook.
So erm, have a happy Christmas, I guess.
JR: And please do not literally shout at him.
YP: What?
JR: You said "Give me a shout" eariler.
YP: Yes I did. What about it?
JR: But you speak so quickly! And so chained.
It's hard to get a word in.
YP: Oh sorry, I'll speak very, very slooooowly
So, Have a joyful Christmas, and a happy New Year!
JR: OR Hanukkah. Or Kwanzaa. (what the hell is that, tell me what that is?)
Or just "Happy December" if you don't actually
celebrate anything. You know what,
We're creating a new holiday. Happy... Happy!
There we go, I'm that unoriginal!
YP: Oh dude, you are so silly at times.
So yeah, that's the information on my next LP.
So, erm, just choose your options I guess...
JR: And a merry Winter-eve-mas. (wait, what?)
YP: And I WILL be uploading the Mystery Dungeon
As quickly as possible. Promise!
JR: Basically one episode every two years.
YP: NO. I'm not that slow! XD
JR: One and a half years. :P
YP: I mean, my first Let's Play has just been
delayed so many times, like college issues
stuff like that. So I'm really sorry for the delays.
But that's life. I guess.
JR: ??? cup of pudding.
YP: What? Oh dear.
I'll just end it there. So see you guys next time!
